Three Best Bets
Three Best Bets
I told BSmack that I'd pass the game over to him this season - if he wants to do it.
It's all yours, Bri.
If B doesn't want it, someone else can feel free to step and and run it if they like.
Just puttin' it out there.

The game will be run if nobody steps up to take it.
Re: Three Best Bets
Well, nobody has stepped up to take over this game, so in the spirit of not having the forum do without the game, I'll operate it again.
Now is anyone going to sack up and run the Pick 'em game?
Confidence game?
Prolly askin' too much.

Re: Three Best Bets
The problem is there are too many fucking games. Confidence? Pick'Em? 3 BB? Jesus christ. You log into this shithole during the season and there are 14 stickies for all the different contests. It's too much. Take a peek in the cfb forum some time and see how it's done. All you need is ONE game. Market it and run it well. The people will play. Instead of attracting a few people to several games, attract everybody to ONE game. Increase the pool of competition. Make it THE event of the forum. Personally, I'd go with 3 Best Bets as the premier game.
Re: Three Best Bets
The pick 'em and confidence pools are being run in tandem by yours truly. You guys will make your picks for both games in one thread and I'll keep the standings in both games in another thread. I don't want to clutter this forum with our games. I'll sticky the standings for the season and sticky the weekly thread...that's it. There really is no clean way to run this on the forum unless we just scrap the postings and just have us go the route of playing on Yahoo! or ESPN. I think we've embraced the pick 'em games here for the various sports as our own cottage industry and we don't go the lazy route and just tell everyone to do on another site. The games succeed as long as we have enough people to play and thankfully football hasn't died off like hockey and baseball has and college hoops is dying a slow death.

Bingo. Once again, BTPCFB > NFL.

Re: Three Best Bets
Mgo, this forum losing members had nothing to do with multiple games being in use.
When our football forum was at it's peak, all games were in operation and many members enjoyed playing them all.
We lost members through the years for a variety of reasons.
One reason was the childish antics of asshats like Gobbler, Kaley and Paul 'tarding the place up on a daily basis.
Folks said to hell with that noise and just left.
Once a member leaves, he seldom comes back.
RACK you, Shoalzie for taking both games.
It's a fair amount of work to do that and I appreciate your willingness to do that.

Right. So you need to evolve and adapt. Run one game, and run the fuck out of it.poptart wrote:Once a member leaves, he seldom comes back.
I'm trying to help you stupid motherfuckers.
Re: Three Best Bets
If we have just one game, do you think people will start flooding into the forum?
Re: Three Best Bets
Of course they will Pops. Tell me you knew that so many games stickied up top is a huge turn-off to any forum and will always drive down traffic. ![Rolling Eyes :meds:](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Re: Three Best Bets
You may get some outside participation if you run and market the game well, but no, I don't think people will start "flooding" the forum. I was referring to the people that currently post here:poptart wrote:If we have just one game, do you think people will start flooding into the forum?
In other words, instead of running like three games that attract 6-7 people each, run one game that will attract 20+ folks.Instead of attracting a few people to several games, attract everybody to ONE game.
Re: Three Best Bets
Your method might have merit, Mgo, and I wouldn't be against going that way.
It'd be Scott's call.
But I think you're using some Enron accounting to try to make a point here.
Last season we had 18 players in the Three Best Bets game and 30 players in the Pick 'em game.

Re: Three Best Bets
Those who didn't get IN the game in week one - it's not too late to play.
Missing a week is no skin off yer nose.
Sack up and get IN this week.
