I got to see SRV twice in concert at Starlight Theater, the first time in 1987 when he was still a mess on drugs and the 2nd time in 1989 after he had cleaned up his act. Pretty sure he died sober.
absolutely my favorite SRV song.

Good idea. Seek low ground in the event of hurricanes, storm surges and various other natural phenomenon which might raise the water level. You'll be safe there.smackaholic wrote:thanks screwey. if it gerts real nasty, i'll go down into the basement,

Re: 21 years ago today....
my house is built into a hillside. when i walk out the downhill side of the basement, i actually step down. i am within 30 ft of elevation of the top of the hill. the center of town is about 300 ft or so in elevation below me. if any storm surge or flood drowns me in the basement, it has gotten bad. really. really. fukking. bad.mvscal wrote:Good idea. Re: 21 years ago today....
There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw
this tune's been playing in my head the last day or so. 2 pretty damn good sized oaks on the south side of my place are starting to shake their heads a bit. my lone maple in the front yard (i call him marty) is behaving pretty well so far.
hope irene doesn't decide to do any equalizing. i got enough fire wood already.
also have a small POS poison sumac that keeps growing back despite being hacked down a few times. more of a weed than a tree really. i call that one TVO.
