I had the feeling the article would be a little too complicated for you.... being that having a knowledge of math would be required to understand it....

Right. :meds:

But not too complex for those with the extra chromosome, eh?

And then in 10-15 years, the super conferences will break apart and form smaller conferences leading us back to 5-6 smaller, main conferences. Perhaps the super conferences is what we need to finally get us into a playoff, but they won't last. Too many egos to balance to make it work.

I'll rack m2oodles (don't get used to it, though) for the interesting read, although some of the methodology employed is suspect, to say the least (e.g., using google searches for college football to determine the % of fanbase in a given media market). Also, the map enlargement function crashed, and my 46-year-old eyes just couldn't read the data on that page without enlarging it.

They did get it right on why ND is loathe to join a conference, although I didn't need to read that page to know that. That particular conclusion is borderline Marcus Allen-esque for anyone who follows ND football.

is the way it is.

It looks like a large portion of the South and Midwest have yet to acquire electricity or the ability to spell "Google".

Hell, even the "illegals" crossing the border in California and Arizona seem to be able to get their "Google on" hooking up their water bottles to the Socorro cactus and busting out some College Football scores while dieing of thirst...

So, okay, your topic here centers around the fact that SEC Country and Big Indefinite Integer Country appear to have a higher per capita percentage of avid college football fans than, say, locales such as Paramus, La Jolla, Couer d'Alene or South Beach? And you're asking for considered responses to this earth-shattering bit of news?

Oh, you wicked provocateur!

Dude, what's next, a pie chart that blows the lid off the mystery of where overalls, NASCAR and homes resting on cinder blocks are most popular?

Sorry, champ, but I read every word of it, and it offered no compelling reason for me to hit 'submit.' A list of colleges and their respective fan bases? And that list is headed up by...shocker...Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State, followed in the majority by the usual suspects from the SEC, along with Notre Dame?

You required this list in order to understand the attractiveness of certain programs vis a vis potential conference realignment?

Again, my apologies, but I found the notion of a grown man who claims to have attended a semester of classes at U.C. Berkeley yet is unable to spell 'dying' to be far more compelling than your tepid subject matter.

Since you're Van, I'll chime in...

That's about the worst stretch of the use of that term I've seen in quite some time.

Make the world a better place -- stop using "vis a vis" as a synonym for "in regards to" -- it sucks.

Sorry for the grammar rant... but it's an M2 thread -- chime in on your local weather or your lunch selection.

Dude, considering how many spelling/grammar gaffes you've been making lately—far more than your norm—you do not want to bother with such a trifling bit of semantics. Yes, 'in regards to' would in fact be more accurate there, and were this a piece I was editing rather than merely tossing m2's besotted way one boring Tuesday evening I would likely trouble myself to put a finer point on it, but if that's what you're now reduced to nitpicking, well...

...okay. I'll humbly concede the point. Good job, sir.

Oh, and speaking of 'vis a vis,' in standard, casual writing do you prefer the slovenly Americanized version or the proper 'vis-à-vis'?

Oh, don't get me wrong, My Good Man -- I was pretty much trying to derail a bad M2 thread (I'm a closet M2 fan, but when wasted, he's about as useful as AP with dead camera batteries).

My grammar is still excellent -- if I'm on my POS laptop, the errata reads like the Los Angeles phone book... too much work to try and keep up with the deficient keyboard that just doesn't fucking type what I tell it to.

BTW-I sprained my shoulder from patting myself on the back after using "errata" in a sentence.

Beer? Not so much repulsive, no. I get the attraction, even though it often looks just like piss. The scent of beer does nothing for me. It doesn't disgust me the way the smell of cigarettes will, but it does leave a rather dank, foul odor on one's breath or clothing.

The bear? I love bears. They just can't play football worth a shit.
