we'll find out since they'll be playing that MG Big Ten schedule...oh wait. full stop. there aren't any other good teams in the Big Ten this year except for that 5 win Purdue bunch who gets after you every year. :grin:MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Wisco is pretty good, but how good? The Big Ten blows this year. Since JON was run, that means nobody has argued otherwise.
Indiana got blown out by North Texas. I wonder if Kevin Wilson has regretted ruining his career yet. Although he did land one of the nation's top qb prospects.

Wilson to Indiana is the definition of career suicide. i didn't get that. anyway, big QB pull for him. i wonder if Stoops was tired of seeing DeMarco Murray plow full fail into the LOS on every 4th down in every big game of the last couple years....and Wilson got a little Mangino push out the door. though, give the fat man cred, he did win the Orange Bowl at Kansas. that's Barnett at NWestern type shit. Kansas.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:The Big Ten blows this year. Since JON was run, that means nobody has argued otherwise.

Dan McCarney is coaching up UNT....after the Todd Dodge disaster. there was a time when UT fan boards wanted Dodge to replace Greg Davis......if only. all kinds of Jon ties to this one. i always kind of liked McCarney.....he did have some domestic abuse thing which is ugly...hey.

Correction: the final score was only 24-21 North Texas, however I do recall earlier in the game IU was getting worked on the scoreboard (down 21-0 at the half).
Minny lost by two tds to North Dakota State. Last year they lost to South Dakota State.
Maybe the two Dakotas can merge into one team, and we can trade Minnesota for them.

i think SDSU had Nebraska thinking about it in Lincoln last year as i seem to recall. no?
edit: not exactly, but Jackrabbits (!) held the Bugeaters to 17 at home. and this was an 0-3 Jackrabbits team. not the usual worldbeaters at SDSU.

Re: shutyomouth's (drunk) College Football Reality Show!
The last couple of years, USC = Cal. Sure, there's lots of individual talent. The thing is, they're just what 'Spray labeled them. They're as soft as pussies.
I'd say the Monte Kiffin Experiment at USC has officially run its course. That "Tampa 2" bend-and-don't-stop-bending-until-you-look-like-an-Escher-painting D just isn't working.
Also, as one the talking heads mentioned during the telecast last night, USC simply seemed flat as hell. He compared them to all those wild Pete Carroll squads who fed off the opposing crowd's energy, and the difference is plainly evident. These guys play with no emotion. They don't relish the challenge of walking into an opposing team's house and taking over the place.
Oh well. Lane gets to be the caretaker during the Shit Years, then his successor will inherit an empty cupboard. His successor will finally return the program to prominence, sometime around 2020.
In the meantime, christ, the Big 10 and Pac 12 suck like nobody's business. Like Mgo said, Wisconsin hasn't played anybody, and they're clearly the class of that woebegone league. After what just happened in Miami last night, Ohio St looks even worse now. Nebraska is the definition of 'meh,' and there's nothing else there.
Unless Stanford amounts to something, the Pac 12 offers fuckall. I don't want to hear about Oregon anymore, and the rest of the league isn't even relevant.
Clemson? FSU? Anyone in the ACC or Big East? Play some D, then we'll talk. Pretty much, that goes for the Big XII teams too.
While it galls me to say it, for once JSC's annual brainfart is correct: The SEC CCG is the de facto national title game. In fact, scratch that. The CCG game will just be another cynical cash-grab formality. The real national title game will be 'Bama vs LSU. Either of those two teams will crush Wisconsin, the ACC champion or the Big XII champion, including OU. Stanford is the only hope, but I just don't see them having enough on both sides of the ball to survive the depth of 'Bama or LSU.
This year is just fugly. It's a one-game season, and the one game isn't even the BCS title tilt.

No I get that...it is tough...I think the SEC finally canibalized the coaching in the conference...they can only pay these guys so much...and yes there is pressure...but the fact that UGA could be stuck with someone like Derek Dooley or Dan Mullen...woah...I would keep Richt...

Yeah, but do you really have a better chance of "keeping up with the SEC" by cycling through coaches? Ask Tennessee about that. I think stability is the better option. Richt has one or two mediocre years out of lots of good ones and people want him out? Pfffft. CFB is a sad state of affairs. If he's still .500 material after two more years, then you start talking about the axe, imo. Not right now.Papa Willie wrote:I certainly see your side of it, but the pressure to keep up with the rest of the SEC cats down here is absolutely fucking huge (you know how that goes).

The fanbase here is not happy about the OOC scheduling. There was an article a few weeks back (maybe in the Washington Post?) that over the past 7 years Wisky had the weakest OOC schedule of all BCS conference teams.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Wisco is pretty good, but how good? Who knows? For the love of god and g0d, fucking play somebody!
Oregon State was supposed to be their decent game this year, but the Beavers went to hell the past couple of years. But that game, believe it or not, was originally scheduled in 1994. Northern Illinois was 11-3 last year, but they’re obviously not the same team. The South Dakota game was a last minute replacement for someone who backed out.
Alvarez schedules to get 7 or 8 home games per season in order to keep the money flowing. And it’s only going to get worse when the Big 10 goes to that stupid 9 game conference schedule. But I don’t believe Barry’s done this team any favors by making Nebraska the first game that rates above a scrimmage.

I'm getting all my OOC digs in while I can since our AD has gone on the record to say fuck home-and-homes with actual competition because $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I suppose we have Notre Dame through 2283 but they're just Akron with a fancy name.Goober McTuber wrote: Alvarez schedules to get 7 or 8 home games per season in order to keep the money flowing. The only way to combat this is to stop showing up for MAC games, though I guess the AD counter would be to sell the reasonable games as a two-game package deal. A one-year boycott would send a message, but ahahhahahahahahahahahahaha that would ever happen.

This USC team is long gone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mvvPL1iNZM
sanctions and shit calls by the refs this year have killed it. The 2 hits that McDonald was flagged for were utter bullshit. How the fuck are they going to flag a guy for excessive football? the only flag should be for not wrapping up. I turned the game off after that and went out to the movies with my wife.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0EWJxNTVsI
worst fucking call I have seen in years. Mcdonalds right shoulder pad hits the ASU guy square in the chest. How is USC going to play with any emotion when all of their players are neutered by the refs? i hope that refs mother is anally gang raped by a pack of Ebola infested Africans and she cracks and bleeds out before he has a chance to hell her that he has AIDS

And this is precisely the problem. You tards are emotionally invested to a fault. Logic and reason take a back seat to flipping out and firing people. I know the SEC is cut throat, which is why I think Georgia is better off keeping Richt around than pulling a Tennessee.Papa Willie wrote:Dude - all you have to know and understand is that the SEC KEEPS winning the fucking championships. To deny that is to just be ignorant as fuck. And WHILE that keeps happening, you can bet that it is a big deal down here.
But hey, maybe Georgia fans are right about Richt. Perhaps he's just not sleazy enough to succeed in the SEC at a high level.

both Jim Donnan and Ray Goff had respectable W-L's at UGA....canning Richt wouldn't be a great deviation from the existing pattern.

ND still has a very long way to go, obviously.
Thing is, as soft as this year's schedule is shaping up to be, 9 wins is very doable even if the team shows no improvement over the course of the year from where we are now. Most of the potential threats remaining on the schedule don't look terribly intimidating right about now.
USC? My God and GOD, but that 4th quarter collapse against Arizona State was painful to watch, even for someone accustomed to rooting against USC.
Maryland? Shut out (until the game was long since out of reach, anyway) by friggin' TEMPLE. 'Nuff said.
Fredo? 1-3, with its only win coming against a 1-AA team, and losses, both at home, to Northwestern and Duke.
Looks like Stanford is the only remaining team on the schedule that should have any shot whatsoever at beating ND. Assuming we can get by Navy, that is.
