going through some old stuff and stumbled on an Aaron Neville "album" I'd forgotten I owned...
didn't really like the guy when I first listened to him sing, but the more I listened the more I grew to enjoy his particular style of singing....now, I'm a huge fan and can't understand why I didn't like him at first....
anybody have any artists they really didn't like the first time they heard like but did a 180 on?
some others that come to mind for me
Warren Zevon
David Bowie
Electric Light Orchestra
Heart
Van Halen (both incarnations)
Johann Sebastian Bach
there are others, but I can't think of them right now

The best example for me is Alice In Chains. I never dug AIC when they were recording/touring. Now I can't get enough of them.
A few others...
Cake
Camper Van Beethoven

How in blazes does anybody not like ELO from day one? :?
I shoulda' posted this in the one hit wonders thread, but they were actually pretty good and this song has a kickass guitar solo.
Sorry Screw, not live, but I couldn't resist the nipplage

complicated story, but my initial dislike of ELO stemmed from me going out with a girl who's previous boyfriend was a big ELO fan...once the fog had lifted (and I kicked that beyotch to the curb) I started listening a little more closely....Jeff Lynne is one of the really great music producers that nobody really knows about....War Wagon wrote:How in blazes does anybody not like ELO from day one? :?
other musical acts I didn't intially like
Prince
U2
Oasis

I've never seen that before, great rendition Gently Weeps.....I was a big fan of the Petty, Lynne, Harrison, Orbison, Dylan collaboration that was the Travelling Wilbury's...some of Lynne's best production were demonstrated on the Wilbury releasesGoober McTuber wrote: You might like this clip. Prince has always been seriously underrated as a guitar player IMHO.....
