Your Pick 'Em Kryptonite teams...

Post by Van »

No matter what, these guys always fuck you. After watching them kill your week every time you pick them, you eventually learn your lesson and just give up.

"Never again!" you grumble to yourself while staring at 88's latest list of games.

Of course those teams then go ahead and cover seventy-four times in a row, until finally you're compelled to take another chance on them. All the stars are aligned just so. Every circumstance points their way. Yep, this one seems to be a sure thing. You're due, and they fucking owe you.

Having set their trap, they lie in wait, anticipating with wicked glee that perfect moment when they can again sink their steely blade into your stupid heart.

Ohio St, take a bow. If you're a huge favorite and I stay away from your game, you cover. Death and taxes. If you're favored by 24.5 over Hip Pocket A&M and I pick you, it's a stone-cold certainty that you'll only be up 6-3 at the half on your way to a riveting 22-16 paycheck cashing.

Cal, go ahead and enjoy yourselves a big, chocolatey, AIDs-infested porn cock. Confucious say, "Never leave toilet seat up in home of skinny-bottom supermodel, and don't be a fucking retard by picking Cal to go on the road OOC and cover a big number."

Then there's the team that prompted this thread...

Kansas State. Baylor. And in the NFL, Jacksonville.

Doesn't matter how I see them. They clairvoyantly know my picks and elect to fuck me anyway at the expense of their season. I could flip a coin, and they'd still play the opposite way. 88's game is cursed.

Iowa is not very good....and their tough games are ahead of them. The D-line is awful and can't keep the O-linemen off of the linebackers. Marcus Coker had 252 yards rushing and McNutt had a 100 yard receiving day....yet they could only manage 21 points, and missed two chip shot FGs against the worst team in America. Not a good day for Hawkeye fans.

used to be the ACC for me, this year it's the Big Ten.

Air Force and ATM have screwed me at least twice this year. ATM is my fault, since i never believed in Sherman.

Sparty won at home for me, but they are in the mix.

Virginia Tech always does it for me. They're playing Duke today? Should be easy! Nope. Bastards.

aTm has fucked me at least twice this season. Virginia Tech always seems to go in the tank whenever I pick them (they usually win but fail to cover). And it seems like every time I pick Cal, well, those are the times that they remember they're Cal.

OTOH, Tulane's opponent, whoever that happens to be, has been :bode: this year. Too bad I didn't discover that earlier in the season.

Can somebody please explain to me how Taco Tech, who just beat Oklahoma in Norman, then gets rolled 41-7 at home by Iowa freaking State?

I was wondering the same thing yesterday. It is amazing how wildly different teams can show up from week to week, and how this fact doesn't prevent m2 from dutifully relying on the Transitive Property to support his arguments.

of all my shitty picks yesterday, Tech at home -15.5 seemed the safest. This was the same ISU team that Mizzou laid 59 points on a few weeks ago.

it was 31-7 with 14:53 left in the 3rd Q. could have been much worse. i mean OU was missing 3 D starters and Whaley (now, out for the year) against Tech...but that doesn't even begin to explain it. ISU showed some spark early in the season but they've been beat-down fodder for a month.

And don't try to pin it on some cockamamie 'psychology' explanation like 'motivation' or 'teams getting up one week but not another, strictly due to their perception of the opponent.'

Never happens. Has nothing to do with anything.

I wouldn't rely on PSU to cover too many games. They have a good running game, but after like 4.5 years, they're still in the midst of a qb controversy, alternating between the obligatory athletic black guy and the white, gun slinging' former walk-on. Their defense is quite good, but they don't have the horses on offense to pull away from anyone.

Dude, at a certain point you have to start blaming yourself. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...."

Why do you continue to pick for or against Syracuse, or any of your cursed teams? STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
