Jsc, LSU's recruiting run began with Nick Saban. Miles inherited a ridiculously full cupboard.

There are two reasons Miles continues to have success on the recruiting trail: 1. Sustained success in the SEC that began under Nick Saban. 2. Top-notch facilities and a rabid fanbase.

That same man would not be able to recruit LSU's players were he employed by Kentucky or Mississippi St, where he also wouldn't be able to get away with his silly antics. They're endearing when a guy is winning. They're mockable when he isn't. He wins this much because he's at LSU, not the other way around.

FTFY

I'm only singling out LSU because they're the discussion topic, not because they've monopolized the procedure.

I have a couple of comments about this.

1. That looks like three reasons.

I considered the second reason to be a combined "Oh, by the way, here at LSU we also have ______ " deal. I could've included Mike the Tiger and his killer playpen but opted not to, deciding that it would fall under "top-notch facilities," as would the gorgeous asses on all those Golden Girls.

Simple math says I don't need to, since it's 2011. I was referring to his title team, which was the result of Saban's recruits and a metric shit ton of incredible good fortune. His continued success was built on the foundation left by Nick Saban, and he's been riding that wave ever since.

Love the spread for the game...Alabama -5.5 on Pick 'Em with most spots probably with Alabama giving at least 3 points. I'm thinking it's a field goal game either I'd put money on LSU plus the points. I was a LSU cynic going into the season but they shut my mouth in the Oregon game and they'll be able to hang with Bama on the road because these two are the best teams in the nation. Both defenses are top notch...the two best in points allowed per game. I'd lean towards the under although both are top 13 in points scored. It's not a case of something's gotta give when both are so even statistically on both sides of the ball. I picked 33 for a total and took LSU...I'm thinking a 17-14 final (yes, I know that doesn't equal 33 points...I threw a couple more points as a cushion). My lean would be Alabama to eek it out but not cover anything over a field goal.

LSU's undersized LB's could get worn down in the second half with Bama's physical o-line and Richardson's running style. However, Matheiu and Clayborne can be put on islands and go man while Reid or Taylor becomes that 8th man in the box to help stop Richardson. Bama's big LBs will do a good job of shutting down Ware, but I think LSU has the playmakers at the skill positions (Beckham, Randle, Shepard) to get loose on Bama's secondary. I think Jefferson offers a different look that will keep the Bama LB's honest if they play zone. McCarron will make a mistake, maybe two that costs Bama this game.

LSU wins 24-14

If/when LSU loads up the box to stop Richardson, 'Bama will pick them apart with the passing game. I'll take the Tide in a close one. I've been looking forward to this game for the past few weeks, so I hope they don't disappoint.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix? For real? And I thought T-Bob Herbert was the depths of naming ignominy in this game.

Nope.

Surprised folks took LSU in our pickem by nearly a 2-1 margin, figured it would be closer to 50/50. I don't see LSU hanging with them for 4 quarters in Tusccy, Richardson and that nasty 'Bama D will wear the Tigers down...easy cover of the 5.5.

5.5 seems like a lot in what should be a competitive, low scoring affair. Plus neither team turns the ball over so you can expect a game-long field position battle. But...who knows. I also heard on the radio the other day LSU is 30-0 in their last 30 road night games. But that was from the mouth of Cowturd, so take it with a serious grain of salt.

I've seen very little of bama so all I know is what I've heard. I have watched LSU though and was impressed.
