This makes me feel a little more confident about Iowa going to Lincoln the day after Thanksgiving. MSU is now in the driver's seat of the division but Iowa still controls their own destiny and will win the division if they can win out. Not betting on that happening or predicting it, but it's still a possibility for them to get into the conference championship game.

Yes we did, but we beat Northwesterrn. Your Huskers are likely to lose at least a couple more...beginning next week in Happy Valley.

You still haven't won an away game this year, so don't start sucking your own dicks just yet, Iowa fans. You end the year with two straight road games.

Northwestern is the team you hate to play against, but love to root for. The "Legends" is still up for grabs because I think MSU loses to Iowa next week.

And Iowa has yet to lose a game at home...unlike the Huskers. I don't expect to win out, AL, but you guys aren't going to accomplish that either.

I don't see how Nebraska is going to score on Penn St. They will have to win that game 10-7...which is quite possible.

I think Iowa wins next week too and, if they can get their first road win at Purdue, I think they've got a good shot against the Huskers and of winning the division.

Penn State has played exactly one ranked team, and they lost to them. I would have to think NU bounces back next week. They manhandled Mich St. and then got manhandled by Northwestern. I don't know if this was a hangover game or that sandwich game that sometimes gets teams. We'll see...

Props to Northwestern by the way. After NU brought it to within 3 points, they struck with all runs. They knew we had two DTs in the game who had played the whole game (injuries to other players. Also heard flu) and they attacked the middle. They gashed NU on that drive to put us away.

Pelini may have to burn some redshirts if he wants to salvage the D-Line or he'll kill the guys playing every down.

You gotta throw the ball on PSU's d to beat them, and I don't see Martinez doing that. I'm sorry, but one good game against Michigan State does not suddenly make NU a formidable squad. You forget my team sucks diseased antelope testicles 99% of the time in big games. PSU offense sucks, but they'll be at home. They'll win a close one, as per usual. Hey, it's just my prediction. We'll see.

Actually he threw the ball the best he has all year. He was 28-of-37 for 289 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

Both lines for Nebraska played like shit and Northwestern ran the ball down the defense's throat..game over. Not to be lost, Nebraska was not nearly as prepared as Northwestern from the start, and clearly was out coached in game.

Northwestern was the better team all day long. I had them in pick'em then changed it at the last minute...you'd think I'd learn my lesson, did the same thing with Iowa today...cost me two picks..I still suck, just like my football team.

I could be wrong, but that might have something to do with the fact Northwestern's defense is godawful. The operative words in my take were "PSU's d."

Northwestern's defense is gad-awful against the run more-so, yet they stuffed NU. I'm sure he won't have numbers like that the rest of the year, but he put the ball on target all day, something we just don't see. The way Nebraska's line played today, Penn St. will have him running for his life before he has a chance to throw.

A lot of his trouble today was reading the option, he doesn't execute it well, he has bad relationship with the pitch man and reads the defense way too late most of the time. Also it was clear Northwestern was determined to stop the option and off tackle run. They did it and that allowed Martinez's throwing numbers as well. (8 guys at the line) This team won't win on the road the rest of the way I fear.

I got worried watching OSU and MSU come out flat whether we'd do the same. Yup we damn well did. Which is the last thing we could afford to do considering mobile qb's give our defense considerable problems. Bo needs to relent and start using a spy. The run-game just wasn't clicking. Yes NW was loading the box but blocking sucked and Beck called a crap game, same option to the short-side over and over. Where was the zone-read? Where was the diamond-formation that worked against OSU and we haven't seen since? He called a little better second-half, went with what NW was giving and riding TM's hot hand. Dropped passes and turnovers didn't help matters but NW had turnovers too. What it got down to was that the D just couldn't get a stop when it counted in the second-half. Thorell and Evans got picked-on repeatedly. DT, which was once a strength, has become thin as hell.

At-least we should come into Happy Valley more motivated and focused. Their O hasn't been very good. If we can watch the turnovers and get the run-game going again we should be in OK shape.

Find it funny an Iowa fan is talking smack, you are a week-removed from losing to Minn and we match-up well against Iowa like we did MSU. Mich got hosed today. Granted they might not get the 2pt conversion or win in OT should they get the 2pt but that was a td.

Michigan did not get hosed, dumbass, they just got beat...in part because they beat themselves. Yes, we're one week removed from an embarrassing loss to Minnesota, 1 day removed from beating Michigan, and 3 weeks away from kicking your pink shirted asses in Lincoln (hopefully). You have to get by PSU in Happy Valley next week and, based on the Husker games I've seen, that ain't gonna happen. You'll have to pass the ball successfully against PSU because you'll have no running game working for you, and I don't think you can do that against their D. I'd also strongly advise you to protect all of the young Husker fans from any PSU assistant coaches, and maybe even leave them at home.

Iowa has Michigan State coming to Kinnick next Saturday, a place where Sparty hasn't won a game since 1989, and where they got totally embarrassed last season, so Sparty has some serious work to do if they expect to leave Iowa with a win. If the Hawks can beat MSU next week and then get their first road victory at Purdue, I think they have an excellent chance to get the win in Lincoln, so enjoy your Thanksgiving because Black Friday is gonna be even darker for you folks in Lincoln. Of course if Iowa doesn't win their next two games, then the Huskers may very well have their way with them.

And now you know what everyone else in the Big 10 knows....you can't overlook Northwestern. They are always a dangerous team to play, even at home.

Poor PSU. He's never going to live this one down. In the same way that it's become LSU fans = corndogs now it's also Penn St = kiddie diddlers. This one is definitely going to leave a mark.

Northwestern has given MSU fits as long as I've been alive, but that probably just has to do with two mediocre teams going at it most years. Seem to have gotten that monkey off their back just a bit though as MSU has beaten the Cats three straight times now, but the win in 2008 is the only decisive victory I can think of. They're fucking pesky, win or lose. Gotta be a tough team to prepare for. Can't overlook 'em, but probably don't get amped for 'em either.

Yeah, but you've only played them once and you're 0-1.

Like I said, and has MGO, they're pesky even when you beat them and, in large part, due to Fitzgerald. They're very well coached and smart, as are all of the students at Northwestern.

I'm not a Nebraska hater, Cornhusker, and, in all honesty, my initial post was for the benefit of everyones favorite husker troll, not you or the other good Nebraska fans. So don't take any of my comments personally, or as an afront to your team. I had to get used to that when everyone bashed Iowa due to theJON.

Understand Mace. :)

I've followed the Big 10 for a long time, not just cuz we jumped into the fray this year. I know NW's history as well as most Big 10 teams, nothing new about their peskiness to me.. I was worried as hell playing them and I had them in pick'em then chickened out, duh me. They are a match-up nightmare for us and most teams, their record is no indication how they've played this season. I think the world of Fitzgerald. Hell he was a beast when he played LBer.

All time Nebraska leads 3-2...just an FYI..

and I get the pesky NU poster thing, he's a magnet for hate..and doesn't make things any easier for some of us...(I get the JON comparsion to some degree)...but that's ok, as long as he enjoys himself I guess. :) brad's the neighborhood dog that barks all night but nobody can bring themselves to shoot. Maybe some anti-freeze in his puppy chow. He has a lot of bark and not much bite. The problem is he will wag his tail from time to time and want a pat on the head..besides we don't PETA up in here.

I'm pretty sure Northwestern has an underground lab where some mad scientist clones smart, fast white guy quarterbacks equally effective at throwing and running. They've had the same damn qb for 20 years. Only exception I can think of is Mike Kafka, who's now a backup qb in the NFL.

Damn right about that. Persa has killed Iowa the past few years and the Colter kid looks to be out of the same mold. I always feel lucky to walk out with a win over Northwestern, like you just dodged a bullet.

LISTEN UP! OK, we got beat by northwestern, Bo Pellini is in his third season, ONCE he starts getting the BIG TIME recruits, we will easily win the big ten, year in and year out.

Right now? BO is kidding himself if he thinks that he can compete at the highest levels with a white cornfed tailback. I like Bo, BUT, he is still a couple of skilled players away from going unbeaten in the big ten.
I still think we can beat penn st, michigan and iowa, and finish strong.

And who's to say that Pelini is ever going to nab a sufficient number of "BIG TIME" recruits to make bradhusker's fantasy a reality? If he wasn't able to do so in the Big XII, why should anything be different now?
