Okay, let's play what if, starting with...

...Arky beats LSU next week.

Now we're down to it: zero undefeateds, notwithstanding a Houston team that doesn't count.

In the SEC we'd have Bama who destroyed Arky, Arky who beat LSU, and LSU who squeaked by @ Bama.

So, first off, Bama likely gets the SEC West title and the opportunity to roll wildly overrated Georgia in the Cash Grab game. Do we let a team (LSU or Arky) who didn't even win their conference go to the title game, knowing how well that worked out every other time we allowed such nonsense? In LSU's case we'd also be talking about a team who shit the bed at home late in the season, with everything on the line. That'd be one baaaaaaad loss...kinda like the one they had in their final '07 regular season game against Arkansas on their way to a title they had no business being allowed to play for. At least that year they did still win the SEC title, though.

Okie St's loss just took much of the shine off of what would've been a huge OU win over #2 Okie St in Bedlam. Now it looks like Oregon will have the greater marquee wins over Stanford and USC late in the year, plus their loss to LSU doesn't look nearly as bad as OU's loss at home to Taco Tech.

Okay, so under this scenario it should end up as the SEC winner (probably Bama) vs Oregon.

But what if LSU runs the table? It'd have to be LSU vs either Bama or Oregon, right? If LSU, Oregon and Bama all win out, yep, one way or the other we're getting a rematch in the BCS title game.

Looks like them's our three most likely choices: 1. LSU loses, giving us Bama vs Oregon in the title game. 2. LSU wins out, giving us LSU vs Bama in the title game. 3. LSU wins out, giving us LSU vs Oregon in the title game.

Of those three choices, ah, fuck it, I guess the most intriguing game would be the LSU-Oregon rematch, just to see if Oregan can ever get off the shneid.

This is shaping up to be one of the most unanticipated MNC games of all-time. We're either going to get one of two possible rematches (LSU vs Oregon or LSU vs Bama), which nobody wants to see, or a couple of 1-loss teams that won't necessarily stand out head-and-shoulders from the rest of the 1-loss pack, causing everyone to shout for a playoff more than ever. But at the end of the day chaos is a good thing.

I'd be all for either Oregon or Alabama if not for the fact their one loss is against LSU. In a playoff scenario, whichever of those teams made it through, I'd be fine with a rematch but kinda sucks the two best 1-loss teams have already lost against the #1 team. Okie State-LSU would've worked for me...two power conference unbeatens. If Oklahoma had beaten an undefeated OSU...that could've vaulted them but that game lost major steam with last night and OU is without their best receiver the rest of the way. Considering Oregon lost their opener (albeit against LSU) but has won out and is getting stronger each week...if they do finish the job in the Pac-12, I'd put them in with LSU (assuming they also win out). I can't put Alabama over Oregon if they can't even play for their conference title.

You guys seem to be forgetting that it's the BCS and Oregon is involved -- they'll change the computer formulas after the final games to keep them out.

The pollsters will say "fuck Oregon," per usualm, and figure out a way to get OU in.

Then again, maybe we should play the remaining games before we get too wrapped up in it.

Bama vs Oregon???
A one loss LSU gets shut out of the championship game, after beating the two teams in it??? The entire college football world can kiss my ass.
If they lose to Arky? Yep, Bama will win the West, and LSU's one loss will be an absolute killer, seeing as how they shit the bed at home in the last game of the year, with everything on the line.

Look, it's not as if the college football world wants to see a Bama-LSU rematch anyway, never mind rewarding LSU for gagging it all away and not even winning their Division much less their conference.

Bottom line: No way LSU gets in if they lose to Arky, not if Bama and Oregon handle their business.

that would be a travesty assuming both teams win out.....Oregon lost their first game to an LSU team that is the best team in the country right now, while OU stunk it up against a Texas Tech team with a so so offense, and an abysmal defense....but if we know anything about the BCS, is that they somehow manage to justify their lunacy....
Then again, maybe we should play the remaining games before we get too wrapped up in it.
agree....lots of football left to be played, lots of storylines to be played out....

If by "meat grinder," you mean "ain't a team in the entire conference that plays a lick of defense," then sure.

I stand corrected.

When you play defense like all 12 teams in the conference do, upsets are bound to happen.

I have to agree with shutyomouth. It's looking like a LSU-Bama rematch in the championship game. Only question is where to set the over/under on the amount of orgasms the SECBSH's in here have over that.

Losses by Oklahoma and Okie Light may very well have benefitted Boise ('sup, Felix). I don't think the Big XII is going to get a second team in the BCS at this point.

Props to Iowa State for what is likely their biggest win in school history and for doing their part to get the two best teams in the country into the national championship game. Those two teams have clearly separated themselves from the pack, imo, and it would be a joke to send anyone other than 'Bama into the contest against LSU. There is no one in the Big 12, Pac, or Big 10 who belong on the same field with either of those teams, and the regular season is sorting out the pretenders and leaving us with the only two real heavyweight contenders to play for all of the marbles. All they have to do is win out which, as this weekend has shown us, is no small accomplishment.
