B1G - Pac-12 unveil extension of partnership

By 2017, each team's nonconference football schedule will include one game against a team from the other league. One could be featured annually as a preseason kickoff event, perhaps staged at the Rose Bowl. Others could be played in neighboring NFL stadiums, including the planned Farmers Field in downtown Los Angeles, the San Francisco 49ers' new facility or Chicago's Soldier Field.
Sounds like fun, I hope we don't get stuck with the likes of oh...say..The Trash Throwers. Nebraska fans auto insurance providers hope the same.
NU's cycle to be on the road is better spent somewhere in Fruits and Nuts country for recruiting purposes.

I read that story earlier today and heard that all 12 of the Big 10 schools want to play Cal as one of their cupcakes instead of Tennessee Tech or Louisiana Monroe.

On the fence -- us PACers only have 3 OOCs, remember.
I doubt Michigan wants any part of Oregon again. Perdon't fared better, as did Wisky.

Methinks the phones in Westwood and Pullman are already ringing off the hook, slobbery B1G ADs on the other end.

And they're trying to string together two cans from the Flyover to Corvallis as we type.

Think Indiana's AD is a popular guy right now?

The conferences will come up with "competitive matchups" when scheduling these games. The ADs won't be making the calls but will undoubtedly have some input.Van wrote:Think Indiana's AD is a popular guy right now?

Sam, the SEC already has this in place, only it's with the Sunbelt, Southern and Southland conferences, including no home-and-home series.Sudden Sam wrote:I'd love to see the SEC do something like this with the Big 12...er...Big 8...er...whatever they'll be in 2012.
Nice work, if you can get it.

This means the Cougs may finally get an OOC game at home or will they still have to play every OOC on the road because teams will complain about going to Pullman?
Re: B1G - Pac-12 unveil extension of partnership
The B1G will have to travel to Pullman. What, are Minnesota and Indiana too high and mighty for them?

Methinks the conference commissioners will be working out the scheduling and not the ADs, though if they were so fearful of playing good teams I don't think they would have signed up for this to begin with.Van wrote:Methinks the phones in Westwood and Pullman are already ringing off the hook, slobbery B1G ADs on the other end.
Love the idea. I've always wanted to see something akin to the Big Ten/ACC Challenge for football.

Ohio State= PUSSIES!

but ohio state athletic director gene smith said the schools actually asked for what the first 20 years of the matchups will be in order to help schedule their other nonconference games. why? because smith said ohio state's plan is not to play two major nonconference games each year. for instance, the buckeyes have scheduled three major nonconference series, which will not be changing: california in 2012-13, virginia tech in 2014-15 and oklahoma in 2016-17. for instance, ohio state would not be looking to play a traditional powerhouse like southern cal in 2017 with oklahoma already on the docket. but if one year in the future ohio state was scheduled with a pac-12 team with less traditional success, like washington state, then the buckeyes would know they could schedule another big-time game like texas or oklahoma.
So it is still only the Pac 12 that fucks its conference teams as a whole by scheduling 6 more losses to the conferences collective record.in one concession to the schedule, the big ten will not go to a nine-game conference schedule starting in 2017, as had been announced. so each big ten team will still have three nonconference games to schedule on its own.

You might want to consider the fact that traveling to the west coast would be outside the range of the Ohio State player's electronic monitoring units and a clear violation of their probation.
