It's that funny?
Six laughing smilies?
Okay, let's call the roll on U.S. military incompetence.
The War of 1812 This was a total loss dressed up like a Whitney coffin shot with the Battle (and song) of New Orleans, etc
The Mexican American War Not a war at all, but a simple ruthless Imperialist assault on a tiny army. A "victory"
? Okay..
The American Civil War Did "America" win by slaughtering a million or so of its men and effectively retarding half the country economically and culturally for about a century? Ezra Pound referred to this slaughter as "the suicide of the Anglo-Saxon race." A "win"?
The Spanish American War Again, ruthless unprovoked (fake provocations don't count, of course) Imperialist assault on both fellow Imperialists and the allies (the Filipinos) who had initially been our reason for intervening. Nice.
WW1! A horrific stalemate which caused the influenza epidemic, resulting in millions of dead Americans besides the 50,000 or so American lads who were fed into the sausage grinder of France, etc..
WW2 Hold the presses!! Did we actually
win one? technically yes. But, we couldn't and wouldn't have won in Europe without the massive Soviet army--our seriously sworn enemy of ensuing decades. And we only managed to beat Japan--a nation the size of California--by NUkING CIVILIAN CITIES. But...we won. That's a win and...
Korea Another dreadful dismal stalemate at best, which left us in the utterly awkward position of permanently stationing thousands of troops where they are not wanted, etc.
Vietnam A ghastly Nazi-like assault on a soverign nation which ended in total defeat of the largest and most expensive war effort ever engaged by any nation in history.
Grenanda Yep, this was next. And what a victory.
Nineteen friendly-fire deaths resulting from the most absurd internecine bickering since Stripes, with Bill Murray. Imagine helicopter attack pilots given
tourist maps to find targets. Picture similarly misinformed idiots accidentally sending helicopters right into heavy fire (by battle-tough Cubans). Sure, it's a win. After all, Clint Eastwood made a movie celebrating it.
Desert Storm Booya! That's a win, right? Well, no. That was a Military Industry trade show. Besides pushing Saddam back--and then attempting to starve and undermine the Iraqis for another ten years--nothing was accomplished--except higher gas prices of course.
Iraq 2 An absolute nightmare of lies, waste, and extremely profitable corporate manipulation. We're about to do another Vietnam retreat Nuff said.
Afghanistan The longest war America has ever waged...is a total loss, period. And just yesterday our "allies," the good folks we're supposedly trying to civilize, one chocolate treat at a time, shot two more America soldiers.
And...let's bear in mind that with the exception of WW2, EVERY single one of these grotesque and utterly incompetent events was firmly--often violently--opposed by the American people. We were dragged into each one--either by the draft or shameless "false fires."
So...you can toddle along, robotically reciting the Limpdick gas of "American Exceptionalism " all you like, but the facts are always there for you to hide from.
