Who's Jordon Jefferson?

Your defensive depth chart goes nine-deep, yet you people can't find anybody to throw the ball. Ponderous.

That's because, as a Cal fan, your only alternative is crying.

Psst... there isn't an SC player in the history of college football... that can even come close to "the hammer" when it comes to defense.

PAC 12 "Player of the Year"...

4.47 ... 40... fastest in NFL History for a LB and plays at 242 lbs... hell, LaMichael James at 65 lbs less... and a track star ran a 4.45.

"The Hammer"... also holds the record for LB's for a vertical jump... at 39.5 at the NFL combine...

oh wait.... he also holds the NFL record for the broad jump.... at 10 feet 7 inches

There is a reason why CAL has had the BEST defense in the PAC the last 2 years...

The Freak....

With Matt Kalil coming in at a 96, second only to Andrew Luck in the entire draft (a score of 96 and above being "Future Hall of Famer" material according to your link), it's no wonder M2's "greatest defensive player ever" with his middling 79 score never even got a sniff at Matt Barkley.

His grade: 79.7, projected as an eventual starter, 2nd to 3rd round draft pick.

Wow :meds: . Nice player, but nothing spectacular enough to get worked up about, little fella.

That's what the "so called" draft guru's said during the last two drafts about Cal's defense players... yet, where did they end up ?

Tyson Alualu

Selected as the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars ...

Cameron Jordan

Selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round (No. 24 overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

I'll be waiting for your response on a LB that had a better combine than Mychal Kendricks... in the history of the NFL.

In the meantime... while you're searching I'll let you hear an interview by a National Radio Show with Mychal Kendricks after the combine... and you tell me the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear him speak as opposed to when an Alabama player speaks...

M2, plenty of LBs scored higher than a 79 at NFL combines. Keep in mind, they don't merely grade basic physical tools such as 40 times, long jump, and high jump. They also grade mechanics and overall skillsets. Combining everything, Kendricks is nowhere near elite.

Ever hear of a guy named Taylor Mays? He had the most off-the-chart physical tools anyone had ever seen, yet there's more to a football player than basic measurables, and at least one or two other safeties ended up with higher scores that year.

Hell, USC's LB trio of just a few years ago (Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews and Rey Maualuga) all had higher combine scores than Kendricks, never mind guys like Junior Seau, Chip Banks or the senior Clay Matthews.

Also, you said "defensive players," and last I checked Ronnie Lott, Richard Wood, Dennis Smith, etc., were all defensive players.

I seem to recall another guy, named Polamalu, who has done pretty well in the NFL.

Mikey, it's hardly just Polamalu, either. if I really felt like bothering—and I don't—I'm guessing that I could come up with a USC guy for all eleven defensive positions who scored higher and was a better player than Kendricks. Even if I went with a 3-4 scheme, I doubt Kendricks would crack USC's all-time two-deep at LB.

Pssst... You need to learn to read and comprehend.

The combine doesn't give out grades... those were the "so called" guru's of the draft giving out those numbers.

1. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash of any linebacker in the history of the combine with an official 4.47

(LaMichael James ran a 4.45 just for some perspective)

2. He had the highest vertical jump in the history of the combine for a LB at 39.5 inches.

3. He had the longest broad jump in the history of the combines for a LB at 10 feet 8 inches.

4. He was also in the top 5 in the 20-yard shuttle.

He was named the Pac 12 defensive player of the year... which is voted on by the players in the conference and not by the "so called" guru's.

I would think the players in the conference may know a little bit more about who is good and who isn't than you do.

Best.Defensive.Player.Ever

Projected as a probable 3rd or 4th round pick.
Impressive. But then, what do those NFL scouts know anyway...they're nothing but "gurus".

Christ, M2, never mind our all-time team, USC has a defensive player in this year's draft who is ranked much higher and will be drafted far sooner than Kendricks. For that matter, Kendricks won't even be the first LB taken in the draft. Hell, he won't even be the first ILB taken in the draft.

The guy ran a good 40 time and he can jump really high? Great. When the NFL finally ditches the Pro Bowl and replaces it with a version of ABC's old The Superstars show, Kendricks will rack up lots of points for being the first LB to complete the obstacle course following his heroic leap over the stupid little pool filled with sedated alligators.

There prolly isn't enough room on this server to list all the SEC defensive players in Canton.

Even Bradhusker is rolling his eyes. Hell, Reggie White is likely rolling them too and he's been dead for a spell.

That would be quite a feat for Reggie White to roll bradhusker's eyes even if he was alive. Not so much if he was Asian, though.

Elvis has been dead way longer than Reggie and he rolls brad's prostate all the time.
