Poe is the definition of a boom-or-bust prospect. Few prospects have his kind of upside.
At 346 pounds, he has above-average lateral ability and range. However, he doesn't make
nearly as much plays on film, especially when you consider the level of competition he faced
on a weekly basis. If the light comes on for him, he'll be a steal at this pick. But he can easily
turn into a bust.

I went to FedEx Field for the draft party tonight. Very diverse crowd, and by that, I mean lots of neck tattoos and white trash.

Oakland's first pick (last pick of the 3rd rd - lol) was, while not necessarily bad, slightly underwhelming, imo.

Guard (although he played Tackle in college) Tony Bergstrom.

Reports I've read say he has very modest upside - but is a solid worker with a nasty streak who is a good character guy.
Yeah, we'll see about the nasty thing.
I've heard that term thrown around on linemen WAY too often.

Oakland needs depth at O-Line, don't get me wrong, but they have multiple needs on the defensive side that appear more pressing to me.
DE-pass rusher, LB, NT, perhaps corner.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I like the Reiff pick in the first...should be able to push Cherilus or Backus for a starting job. We arguably the next best OL behind Kalil.

The Broyles pick to me was them being too clever. They got value at the spot picking a guy that probably was a 1st round talent if he wasn't hurt but they don't have that need at this point in the draft. I'm sure the concern is to get guys that can catch and drops have still been a problem for them. Hopefully between him and Young along with Megatron, not a lot of catchable balls hit the ground.

They finally get a corner in the 3rd with Bentley. He played at ULL so probably not many have watched him play...me included. I won't pass judgment on the pick yet. He's the typical small school DB, short but athletic.

The rest of the Raider draft was verification that Al Davis did in fact die.

No corners drafted, no track guys drafted.

Looks to me as if R. McKenzie went after areas I considered needs, so while I could surely nit-pick at some of the selections, it looks like a decent effort on paper - given the fact that Oakland went in without a 1st or 2nd round pick, and did not draft anyone until the last pick of the 3rd rd.

Hopefully they've captured a couple o' few guys who can stick.

Hopefully AJ finally had a good draft, its been a while. Here's a decent write up from ESPN, it breaks down all the divisions. Of course it'll be 2 or 3 years before we know how it all pans out.

The Chargers potentially strong draft has them join both KC and Denver in surpassing Oakland in the personnel dept, imo.

The Raiders biggest issue might be a serious lack of depth.

Poe had the sickest Combine any lineman has ever had. Not sure how a player can ring up those kind of numbers and be such a tremendously average player. While he has the physical tools to be a beast, dude has "bust" written all over him.

He couldn't make First-Team in C-USA, for chrissake. Nope, not one of the two best tackles in the also-ran league.

Morris Claiborne has some nasty dislexia, or some shit -- makes it awfully hard to do a rapid-fire written test. Anyone who thinks he's anything but a future Pro-Bowler many times over apparently doesn't watch football on saturdays. Freaking amazing player, and will be at the next lever as well. Lead-pipe-lock.

And BTW -- when I tuned in to the draft after work, I was shocked to see Hightower still on the board. A dominant player.

Obviously, Kuechly was going to be the first backer taken, but there's going to be some teams kicking themselves for not taking Hightower when they had the chance.

Ted Thompson did another fine job for the Packers. Some mock drafts had the Pack selecting MSU's Worthy in the first round and Thompson picked him up in the second. A lot of new players for the defense. NFL title #14 is on the way.

Also, Russell Wilson > Kirk Cousins. Again.

this was a solid effort for the Raiders, as their first four choices could all make immediate impacts.

Considering they had so little to work with, this was solid effort by the Raiders.

A higher mark than both Dungver and KC.

Chiming in on the Wilson-Cousins debate...as far as natural ability, Wilson is the more promising prospect. Both are high character guys...you can trust them as your leader. Cousins came off as a classic over-achiever...doesn't have eye-popping skills or a rifle arm. He just did things well and he's got a good head on his shoulders. He came from the Holland/lakeshore area...conservative Christian up-bringing...almost has a touch of Tebow personality-wise...confident but comes off as a bit naive. I question his overall decision-making with the ball and the fact Wilson can scramble and probably has the better arm...he's more likely going to make the flashier plays. Cousins can do the simple things right but he was definitely guilty of forcing throws but also had some receivers at State who'd get a case of the dropsies for a stretch. Wilson is somewhat being written off as not a legit prospect because of him measuring out at 5-11 when he played behind what amounts to a pro offensive line...they produce several draftees on the o-line and it's not like the height issue mattered last year...completed 73% of his passes and threw only 4 picks. Teams did had to respect their ground game with Ball and White.
