don't be a hater....

Post by Felix »

but I've heard a couple of songs written by Lady Gaga (but performed by other artists) that I thought were really good....I've always been under the impression she was pretty much of a novelty act (with the weird clothes) coupled with being an average quality singer that was simply a product of electronic wizardry.....

I'm convinced I was all wrong

I'm not a fan and never will be, but in watching that I came to the realization that she really is quite talented

I slogged through almost half of it. Not at all impressed. I'll wait to hear what bradhusker has to say about it.

I'm a grown ass man and don't watch shows or listen to stations that would play that stuff.

you don't watch or listen to Howard Stern? like I said, not a fan and never will be...but I'm not a musical snob either.....I'm someone that can appreciate talent, no matter where or who it comes from...

I learned that when I was DJ'ing and had to spin up all types of music from country and western (talking the old time Roy Acuff/Johnny Cash stuff) to the new york metropolitan opera and everything in between....

It has been 10 years since I listened to Stern. And even when he was one free radio I didn't listen to him all that often.

Stern might just be the most overrated radio personality in the history of the medium.

the only time I listen to him is when I'm in a rental with Sirius....I heard them reference this performance and I dialed it up on youtube.....I was impressed by the fact she can actually sing

while the song is nothing special lyrically or structurally the whole singer/songwriter thing was pretty cool.....

I've got your back on this one, Felix. I'm not a Lady Gaga fan by any stretch. I'd never buy an album or go to one of her concerts, but that song gave me goosebumps. And I do respect the fact that she actually writes her own shit, unlike the vast majority of her "pop diva" contemporaries.

I didn't say they were overrated. I said I'm fucking sick of them.

That might be a better tack to take in regards to Stern as well. Being sick of him is one thing, but calling him overrated makes you sound ignorant about the medium as a whole.

When Stern was on Rocheser radio, I got the feeling he was the answer to the question "What if shutyomouth and Lenny Bruce has a love child?" Most of the time he was boring, venal and very one dimensional. But every once in a while, I would tune in and he would be utterly brilliant. Problem was, he wasn't brilliant often enough. It was as if the Lenny Bruce side of him was definitely the recessive genes.

How in the hell would a 30 year guy ever have been inundated enough with The Beatles to have grown sick of them?

That does not compute.

I wonder how long before you'll be sick of these myriad other shit bands you pimp.

The guy who is hosting America's Got Talent? No. I don't watch things like that nor listen to things like that.

Fucking breaks my heart that the true talent Artie Lange has a podcast but its riddled with Nick DiPaulo reciting GOP talking points throughout.

Piss the fuck off, already. I've heard enough of the Beatles to know there's life beyond the Beatles.

Well of course there is, my point being that before The Beatles, there was nothing.

While some may argue that point, few would disagree with the groundbreaking, revolutionary influence they had.

Well, Marty might, but he just argues for arguments sake.

like I said, I wouldn't have stopped listening if it wasn't for DiPaulo. Might go back. It just got really tiresome. For as happy Artie made me his shit go interrupted constantly. And it was unfunny shit interrupting. DiPaulo has forgotten all jokes and is more interfested in being a bitter "the white man is being attacked" guy.

Artie: So I ordered two moo-zer-ell sandwiches and the gahbagoul and the proshoot. I got a tray filled with an Italian mother's wet dream and I'm heading back to the table...

Nick: Sounds like that cow first lady of ours wouldn't like what you got.

Artie: and a lady in line behind me sneers at me like I'm a fat disgusting pig. Which I am. But she's got this look on her face and...

Nick: another worthless liberal

Artie: then she goes up to the counter and orders two mufaletta sandwiches with extra cheese to go. And I know full well she's going home to eat those herself tonight with a bottle of wine and watch The Notebook.

Nick: whiny cunt probably voted for Obama.

I'll check it out. This week has been great, btw. I'm usually pissed when they go on (yet another) vacation, but I'm loving the Artie redux. I wish they'd just do a "best of Artie" week the next time they go on vacation (probably in like 2-3 weeks).
