Upcoming Concert Plans

Post by buckeye_in_sc »

So might as well throw out what I got coming up and others of course...

and i really don't give a fuck what some of you cum dumpsters care about who I see or what...I like aggressive music, etc...so GFU if you don't like it...

July - Mayhem Festival in the ATL - going mostly for The Devil Wears Prada, ANTHRAX (FINALLY) and Slipknot, but will obviously be looking at Slayer for sure to put on a hell of a show...not really a Motorhead fan so WGARA

August - great week lining up for me...Five Finger Death Punch and KSE...mostly going for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE on this one...absolutely love these guys...
Same week...- LAMB OF FUCKING GOD...with Dethklok and Gojira (who sucks)...but just to see LOG is all I am going for

October - RUSH...arguably 3 of the best musicans on the planet...can't wait...

sad I missed Korn at Carolina Rebellion...they brought HEAD back for BLIND...fuck me in the goat ass...

If Rush played downtown at the Verizon Center, I'd certainly attend, but because they are out playing in BFE NO VA, I will likely not attend unless I can con one of my friends into driving.

I haven't really set up any concert plans for this summer. I like to play by ear.

P.S. Does Korn play Faget for you?

I love how we're probably the two biggest metalheads in this joint, and yet our tastes are almost polar opposites. Haha.

You will not be disappointed in Anthrax or Slayer, I can promise you that much.

All I have on the radar so far is Church of Misery on 6/4 and COC with Torche opening on 6/7. I'll probably have to go check out Kreator in August as well. Those guys are fucking legends, and I've never seen them live...

Did I just get called out for not smacking someone? Alright, how's this:

Lamb of God is fucking lame. Those guys and Hatebreed should join a gym together so they could take turns playing shitty aggro jock metal while the other pumps iron.

(Sorry buckeye, he forced my hand...)

Mike...yeah we are opposites...but we do like some of the same old school stuff...you not a fan of Slipknot or Korn? LOG and Hatebreed are two of my faves so I guess it stands to reason that I get smacked for that...

I doubt I hurt his feelings too badly. After all, it's coming from a guy whose favorite metal album so far this year is by a band with a gay lead singer and a predominantly pink album cover with magical cartoon animals and rainbows on it...

I'm ashamed to admit that I did buy the first Slipknot album, but I'm definitely not a fan. Those guys and 120-degree temperatures are the two main things keeping me away from the Mayhem festival this summer. Never much cared for Korn either. The only nü metal band from that era I can really get down with is the Deftones. They've got some cool shit.

So what's your take on that whole "rap" fad?

Also, do you ever yell at kids to get off your yard?

I've got tickets for Tedeschi and Trucks, sharing the bill with BB King (if he makes it that long) in September, at an outdoor venue in Valley Center.

Will be buying ticktes for Hot Tuna presently, at Anthem in San Diego.

Don't have any others yet. Last summer was much more active.

Oh yeah, The Magic Flute in San Francisco on June 27, our anniversary. Got two of prolly the best 10 or 20 seats in the house - second row center in the balcony looking right down at the stage. Paid more for those seats (retail, BTW) than any two or three rock concerts combined. Oh...except for Van Morrison a couple of years ago. That wa$ painful.

MikethedrunkenangryCUfan - you have the best screen name ever, btw,

rap is the most ridiculous and annoying genre of "music" ever, it makes metal seem somewhat listenable...

not really.

I have never hollered at kids to get off my lawn. I'd rather them play there than in the street and trust me, there's a shitload of kids running around my 'hood.

Got a few free shows on my radar

June 21st - Rusted Root, Balkan Beat Box , Lauren Mann & the Fairly Odd Folk
July 5th - Tower of Power
Aug 7th - 7 Walkers (Bill Kreutzman's new band)

I'm also thinking that checking out Zappa Plays Zappa at The Going Bankrupt errr Eastman Theatre might be a good idea.

interesting stuff brought here...

guess I am the "commercial" metal guy of this forum...

I guess I'll wear that proudly...

still can't wait to get the RUSH tickets for October in Charlotte...I better get on that...and I know many in here hate Killswitch Engage so I'll just say that they replaced Howard with their former singer Jesse...should be cool seeing them with their older lineup...

I saw Zappa Plays Zappa last summer opening for Return to Forever IV.

Really enjoyed Zappa and would highly recommend them. A bunch of very talented young musicians who you could tell were really enthusiastic about playing the music. I'd go see them again.

[cliché music snob]I definitely like their older shit better.[/cliché music snob] They just got really melodramatic with Howard Jones. I bought Alive Or Just Breathing back inna day and enjoyed it well enough. So I guess that means no more Seemless?

If I come up with tix (they sold out quickly), Furthur is playing 3 nights at the world's coolest bar, the Edgefield. Any bar that takes up 43 acres is bound to be cool.

Running interference next weekend for my 16 year old daughter at Livestrong Park:

Foster the People
Sublime w/ Rome
The Shins
Flogging Molly
Metric
The Kooks
The Joy Formidable
The Dirty Heads
Kimbra and The Antlers

For $35, this lineup does not suck. Looking forward to a killer show...

Who are you most looking forward to? That's good for $35. How far is the drive and parking?

Fifty mile hike, and free parking. Beers likely to easily be $37 each.

Regardless...

The top six on that bill will all have my attention. I've seen Molly twice, but both times were in an intimate indoor venue. Wanna see how they translate to a festival atmosphere. FTP has cooled a bit, but it's their first trip through town, so I'm looking forward to seeing them. And I will be fascinated to see this incarnation of Sublime since Brad Nowell died, and, well, nobody outside a bunch of burned-out Calis knows what Sublime is really supposed to sound like anyway.

The Shins are destined to break up (again), so seeing them one last time won't suck, and while it makes me a 19 year old girl, I loved Metric's last CD. Besides, Emily Haines is hot. And the Kooks should be good, clean fun. If the other three bands offer anything of value (the Dirty Heads sound promising), it will be a bonus. Not the worst way to spend a Saturday night...
