The Guns of August

Post by Mikey »

A very compelling book. Starts with the players and circumstances in France, Germany, Belgium, England, Russia and to a lesser degree Austria, leading up to WWI. I'm about 40% of the way through and a week or so into the war, with fighting in Belgium and in the Alsace Lorraine area.

Not so great on the Kindle, though. I often find myself wishing I had a map to look at.

You can't go wrong with Barbara Tuchman. "Guns of August" was a college fave of mine.
