It's really fukking simple. When a cop tells you to do something, you do it. If you have issue with it, tell it to the judge.

This whole chapter was fukked up. The cops went to trial and they were aquitted by a jury who saw the entire tape, not what was fed us by the media. Then the gutless feds stepped in and stomped all over their constitutional rights. Forget what amendment covers double jeopardy, but, that was the most blatant example of it I have ever seen. The factor of PCP is key in the good and proper beat down visited upon King. Sure, he deserved it just for fleeing while seriously inebriated, but I agree that of course the cops should refrain from administering justice on the spot But when a large man is pulsing with PCP a bizarre phenomenon occurs where he can endure astonishing abuse and keep coming. And you can see clearly that King was getting up again and again, surging blindly. So...if a large guy who appears to be on PCP is raging uncontrollably, the officers are just doing their job when they take "batting practice" (as Sgt Koon described it the next day joking with King beside his hospital bed--King, now sober and apologetic, agreed, "yeah, we had some batting practice").
