All is vanity

This was the confession of Solomon, a man who basically had it all and had done it all.

Ecclesiastes 1:1-2
The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.


Satan is interested in seeing people do many many things in this world, just so long as they don't do one thing - which is receive Life.

He distracts, confuses, and preoccupies people with all the things they see with their eyes.


He tells us to concentrate on the physical things - Matthew 4:3

We get full of these things and he tells us to concentrate on our ego - Matthew 4:6

He then scratches our pride and tells us to make a name for ourselves, and that we can be great - Matthew 4:9.

But none of these things will bring the true peace that we think we are seeking after.


The first thing Jesus did (Matthew 4:1-11) before He began his public ministry is chase satan out - by using God's Word, three times, at each of these stops.

"It is written..."

Satan left.


Satan captures our focus, then afflicts us, and then surely destroys us - but he absolutely leaves us at the time when we simply believe God's Word of Truth.
