Plenty of people out there think Curiosity is a hoax.

With NASA in its death throes, and their willingness to make shit up to keep the funding coming, I wouldn't rule it out.

I'm sure it's for real. The question is why. Just to try to prove there is "life" on places besides earth ? Good luck with that.
