Insurance honks ? Claims info ?

Post by Derron »

So I ran my construction business for 25 years with no claims of any kind. Have no experience with them at all. Just wrote the fucking premium checks. Had great mod rates and all, never ANY claims.

I am stopped at a crosswalk waiting for a pedestrian to cross per Oregon's stupid laws, and this cunt in a Passat talking on her cell phone butt slams me. Knocks me clear into the intersection. Probably totaled a pretty good Ford Ranger pickup. Really totaled her Passat hitting an EZ lift hitch receiver.

I have Progressive insurance and they want to take my truck, evaluate it and then come up with some kind of payoff offer if it is not repairable, which with the frame bent in 2 different spots at minimum, the total is more likely the case.

The other driver has State Farm, who has contacted me as well, and is waiting to hear what I decide. I am thinking that Progressive wants to try and low ball me, but I can always tell them to fuck off.

Anybody deal with this shit ?

I don't doubt that story but there will be plenty of folks who will defend progressive cause their $200 glass claim was handled promptly.

Any of you who haven't gotten at least a quote from Amica are missing the boat. Far far superior to any other company around.

Apparently, you & Matt Fischer aren't the only ones who feel that way...
Overall, how satisfied are you, with Progressive Insurance?

24% Extremely Satisfied
16% Very Satisfied
10% Somewhat Satisfied
6% Unsatisfied
44% Very Unsatisfied
http://insurance.freeadvice.com/reviews/index.htm

Customer comments on that site aren't very flattering, either. Although to be fair, most insurance companies don't fare any better. State Farm's rate of unsatisfied & very unsatisfied customer reviews is 52%, Geico's is 40%, Allstate's is 62%, Nationwide's is 68%, 21st Century's is 55%, Prudential's is 75% (!), etc.

The Web site I linked backs that up. 53% Extremely Satisfied, 29% Unsatisfied/Very Unsatisfied. Amica did nearly as well, too.

Be sure to read some of the reviews posted on this site:

"Customer for over 30 years. Have only ever filed 2 claims one this year for a cracked windshield. Paid the 500 deductible and had it fixed. A few months later I drove through spilled paint on the road. They say I need to pay the deductible again ... Each type of claim carries a deductible. Will be shopping for a new insurance company I am furious"
Well.. yeah. Read your policy you idiot.

I don't disagree with you regarding USAA. I have some insurance with them and some financial accounts. However, not everyone is eligible to join USAA. Everyone is eligible to join Amica, and unless you are at the officer level with USAA Amica will often be most affordable. Plus Amica's claim service is often better than that of USAA.

And there we have the reason why PMs are sometimes necessary.

You can't expect ankle biter to act like adults.
