The Israelites had strayed from God, gone into the inevitable idol worship which follows that, and had also gone into the inevitable captivity (in Egypt) which follows idol worship.

God called Moses and told him that He knew the suffering of the Israelites, and that He was going to use Moses to bring them out of Egypt.


Moses: Who am I that Pharaoh will listen to me and that I will be able to bring the Israelites out of Egypt?

God: Surely I will be with you.

Moses: When the Israelites ask me what Your name is, what shall I tell them?

God: I AM THAT I AM. Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.



When Jesus came, the Pharisees accused Him of breaking the Law.
They puffed themselves up as being seeds of Abraham, but Jesus told them that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced in it.

The Pharisees mockingly said, "You're not even 50, and how is it that you have seen Abraham?"

And Jesus said, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

And then the Pharisees, knowing He was telling them that He is God, took up stones against Him.


God Himself was a threat to the bogus system of self-righteousness the Pharisees had built up, and so, in the ultimate display of humiliating arrogance, they went so far as to crucify the God of the universe.

The Pharisees saw the miracles... and denied.

The could have seen that Jesus was the complete fulfillment of all of the Old Testament prophecies and promises, but Jesus did not at all match their preconceived notion of what the Saviour was supposed to be and what He was supposed to accomplish.

God was not what they imagined He was supposed to be, and He was a major threat to the satanic system they had established... so they denied and thrashed their very Creator.


And so it goes to this day.


Jesus Christ is God and Jesus Christ is the great I AM.

There is nowhere else to look and there are no answers outside of Him.
