A new middle school was named after him here back in the day. I was in the first 8th grade class to attend this school. They tried to get Neil to attend the dedication, but there was a shit ton of schools being named after him in those days. Circa 1971.

I will always respect Neil Armstrong and the other astronauts who risked their lives for study and accomplishment. But I have had the opinion that the space program is a waste of money because it could be used to help people here on our own planet who are hungry and suffering. I know alot of people agree with me on that. But still a sad day because Armstrong was an American hero to many people.
