The election is over

Post by Screw_Michigan »

http://www.people-press.org/2012/09/19/ ... st-issues/

Eight points? This election is over. I guess the all-out class warfare emphasis by Romney didn't work out at planned. Emphasis added and text enlarged for Wolftard.
With an eight-point lead over Mitt Romney among likely voters, Obama holds a bigger September lead than the last three candidates who went on to win in November, including Obama four years ago. In elections since 1988, only Bill Clinton, in 1992 and 1996, entered the fall with a larger advantage.
Nice job, GOP tards.

What, are you describing your reading material? Or are you dutifully parroting the Hannity line--he's desperately repeating over and over that Mitten's can win and the polls are "liberal" and false and that up is down, black is white, etc. Limpdick of course has doubled down on Mitten's crass class-warfare game plan, braying that we've come to the edge of the cliff...so...go ahead Mall Cop, jump already.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns 46% of the vote. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

Still, with such an insurmountable lead, I'd imagine you're relieved to know that you will no longer have to trouble yourself to vote come November 6th.

No, I'm describing cooked polls which oversample Democrats, undersample Republicans and independents.

That is one form of garbage. Another form of garbage is running a headline that is not really supported in the body of the article and counting on the bovine stupidity of semi-literate clods such as Screw Michigan to glance at the headline and not read the full story.

Yup. G-Dub lost by over a half-a-million popular votes (give-or-take a coupla thousand down in Florida), and still won the 'lection. Obviously, I am relaying anecdotal observations, which may or may not be characteristic of the nation at large.
Going by the bumper sticker/yard sign baromter, even here in the liberal utopia that is the SF Bay Area, the support for Obama Biden is significantly lower than in '08. Back then you'd see some form of Barry O's swag on just about every other car you'd see. Now it's maybe a third of that. Also (almost) gone are all of the cubicle fanboys at work, save one bumbling idiot on my floor and one of the single moms in the call center. That may not seem like a big deal, but out of the 200 people in my building, probably 150 had that goddamn Hope poster on their wall.

Based on what I've seen and heard from my nutty liberal coworkers, most are going to reluctantly vote for Barry again, but clearly wish Hillary or someone else was running. Personally, I think a lot of them are staying home on election day. They won't say it, but I imagine it has a lot to do with things like Obama skipping intelligence briefings during worldwide uprisings, but still finding time for shit like this. It's just not that cute anymore.

actually, I do have a bit more to add.

McCain was a fine candidate and would have made an excellent President, respected both at home and abroad. It's no surprise whatsoever he got the support he did.

Screwballs whack take aside, a whole bunch of disillusioned "hope and change" voters from 2008 are going to stay the fuck home.

Conversely, I'm disillusioned by Romney and his huckster campaign of trying to sell me stuff I'm not going to buy. I might stay home as well. I've voted in every Presidential election since 1980 but I'm not going to stand in line simply to vote against Obama.

War hero & patriot aside, he was a horrific candidate. Too old, too wishy-washy, afraid to take on Obama, just wanted to play nice.... Another in a now steady stream of underwhelming Republican candidates. The Republicans have self destructed in Cali and if this election is blown, it will be time to rebuild an option to the lefty-euro D'crats.

I dunno. Romney is wooden, smug, generally unlikeable, is openly running with a platform that consists solely of "anyone making less than six figures can go fuck themselves" and he's locked in a statistical heat with Obama? That doesn't bode well for Barry.

So Obama was actually present during all those intelligence briefings leading up to the 9/11 anniversary and was aware that his ambassador would be sodomized and murdered while his consulate was overrun?

I do think for myself. I'm very conflicted with this election. As much as I think Obama is a waffler who is unable to make difficult decisions, clearly doesn't understand the process of working Congress and the Senate (even within his own party) to get shit passed and doesn't provide a clear direction on anything including his own pet projects like health care "reform", Romney is an empty suit douche that I'm having a really hard time convincing myself to vote for. For some baffling reason, he's mirroring John Kerry's failed "I have a plan" campaign and doing multiple "campaign resets" whenever he realizes the bullshit is getting neck deep. So yeah, I think for myself, as muddled as it may seem at times.

As for what you quoted, that's just one example. I think the issue that really soured a lot of people here on Obama is that he's done NOTHING to rein in Wall Street, brought none of those responsible for the financial collapse to justice, and gave billions to banks that were supposed to be used for small business loans and the like and instead were used to (again) gamble on derivatives. No, that isn't Obama's fault entirely...much of the blame falls to Congress. But why wasn't he out front pressuring congress publicly to pass something with teeth? Well, during years 2 and 3 of his Presidency, as we all know, the dude was taking high profile vacations and golfing like he was trying to get his tour card.

Want another? There are signs all over this state declaring that "This project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" in places like the Baylands Salt Marsh Preserve, little-used trailheads in the foothills above Palo Alto, next to streets widened to accomodate bigger bike lanes, etc, etc. Obama had a chance right out of the gate to shove that pork-bloated turd back in congresses face and tell them to dump the shit and instead he signed it with a smile. People remember shit like that.

And where was his plan to help jobs? Other than encouraging congress to repeatedly extend unemployment benefits, which is putting a bandaid on a gushing artery, he didn't produce anything of substance until his American Jobs Act, which showed up just in time to kick off an election season where jobs are THE issue.

I don't think he's a bad guy or an idiot. I think he was elected on an unprecedented wave of popularity based on his ability to give a great stump speech and inspire people. But he bought into his own press to the point where he thought he was so awesome all he had to do was show up and everyone would do what he wanted and he wouldn't have to work at it.

When I am not working overseas, my home is in NorCal. Contrast 2008 to today and even in the People's Republik of Kalifornia there is not the fervor that there was the last time around. Visit SF and you'll see an occasional Obama 2012 bumper sticker, but generally there almost seems to be a palpable embarrassment on the part of the left leaning populace that they were so taken in by the mania which surrounded BHO only to discover that they had been hoodwinked on nearly every promise, platform, and expectation they had so eagerly anticipated. Like 88, my observations are entirely ancedotal, but to bolster my view, my next door neighbor, who is a dyed-in-the-wool union loving postal worker, and who every election papers his yard with poster from national and state candidates with the letter D behind their names, has strangely left his home utterly devoid of any campaign materials other than local councilman signs.

My gut tells me all these polls showing Obama pulling away from Romney are last ditch efforts by the left leaning mainstream press to turn the tide of the election or at least mitigate what may be a landslide rejection of everything Obama to a more face saving mere close election loss. Among the soldiers I work alongside, there is a reluctance to disparage Obama out loud lest they be accused of bigotry or racism, yet when asked in private what their views are, they are nearly unanimous in their disgust with him. This tells me there is a silent majority out there who is biding their time until Election Day when the truth will come out and all the pundits will scratch their heads and ask where did this "stunning" turnabout result come from?

Consider this: she's about the same age as Barbara Bush was when her husband became President. She's also had some rather serious health issues to deal with.

Compared to Barbara Bush, she's a veritable goddess. Not that that's a high standard. Nor does that mean I'd ever consider casting a vote for her empty suit of a husband.
