How in the fukk does LZ not have a grammy? Did rock bands even get grammies in the 70s?Dee Snutz wrote:Btw, Mgo, as for that Grammy, I have just as many of them as Led Zeppelin does.

No. And the cool ones didn't show show up to accept them if they won one. Pink Floyd has one Grammy. It's a lifetime achievement Grammy. Which is pretty much a "Sorry, we fucked up" award.smackaholic wrote:How in the fukk does LZ not have a grammy? Re: Beat Off
You got way to much stock invested in drummers. Nobody cares about drummers or musicians. If a singer isn't involved, nobody cares.Papa Willie wrote:I'd look at it this way.
Say it's 1973, and you've got Moon, Bonham & Carl Palmer.
I think that Moon could do okay with the Zep stuff, though he'd actually have to calm down a bit. I think Bonham could play the Who easier than Moon could the Zep. Palmer could play both the Who & LZ - maybe with not as much power or energy.
Neither Moon nor Bonham would have a chance in fucking hell of playing ELP. Maybe a couple of others at that time could - somebody like Bill Bruford or Billy Cobham, but Moon or Bonham couldn't hang with something as sophisticated as Yes, ELP or the MO.

Okay, Dee Snutz is pretty much an idiot.
'Spray, with the inclusion of Palmer you're definitely moving the goalposts. Now you're including Prog Rock players, so why not toss in fusion and jazz types too and make it a whole new ballgame?

Re: Beat Off
That may be true today, but it wasn't the case in the 70s. If I remember correctly, many liked LZ despite Plant's singing. We didn't listen to Hendrix primarily to hear his voice. Any group of choirboy's could have sung for Yes. There was a lot of great music in the 70s, not just great singers. And people cared about the music.Dee Snutz wrote:Nobody cares about drummers or musicians. If a singer isn't involved, nobody cares.
Re: Beat Off
It's not true today either, at least not among those types who actually enjoy and appreciate real music.

Actually, you're an idiot. Nobody gives a fuck about Carl Palmer or any drummer that ever lived. I can now pick up an Alesis SR-16 that will replace any drummer. For $100.Van wrote:Okay, Dee Snutz is pretty much an idiot.

Re: Beat Off
The only reason a dude ever picked up a guitar, was to fuck chicks. Nobody gives a shit about the drummer. He's the guy chicks fuck when they miss the singer, then the guitarist, the other guitarist, the keyboardist, and then the bassist. If you're some fag arguing about who's the better drummer, you're obviously a fucking loser.

Re: Beat Off
Wtf? What does any of this nonsense mean?Papa Willie wrote:You sort of contradicted yourself there at points. AND - this is where your personality hit an awkward speed bump. AND - this is where you decided to troll.Dee Snutz wrote:Nobody should confuse being an artist w a musician. As someone stated earlier, music is a high degree of math. Not completely, but innate understanding of meter is a fundamental component of music. I can put a metronome against two drummers and prove conclusively one drummer's superiority to another. Beyond that, it's all subjective. And every musician has the same 12 notes to work with. Someone else pointed out, John Lennon is not regarded as a stellar guitarist. But Lennon also once said "I'm an artist. And if you give me a Tuba and I'll bring you something out of it". Art is impossibly subjective. If you were to base your opinion on general consensus, Mariah Carey is the greatest recording artist of all time.
#44. That's the number.
