I was more of a Midnight Special fan, but I do remember seeing Mahogany Rush and Uriah Heep on Rock Concert....nice thing about that program (and Midnight Special) is that there was no lipsync....it was all done live......

btw, Frank Marino was a seriously underrated guitarist

I first encountered Bob Marley on that show, which was pretty damn mesmerizing to a little kid who'd never seen wasted Rastas jamming before. They certainly seemed to have the crowd spellbound.

Saw them at the State Fair in 08 I believe. Placed was so packed with dykes and bo's, it was like a meat market for them.

One of the best shows I ever went to was at Portland International Raceway, it was Heart, Fleetwood Mac and Bad Company. Bob Welch was playing guitar for Heart after leaving Mac, and dude hit a cord on his Strat, it did not come out of amp, hit it again, nothing, lifted that bitch over his head and smashed it in a hundred pieces and kicked it off stage. Roadie tossed him another one, and they kept on going.

That would have been about 77-78, probably right after Dreamboat Annie came out, quite the show. Really was the top of their respective careers in those days. I did about way more cross tops than I needed too, chased with about a fifth of Jack before 10 in the morning. Got home a couple days later if I recall.

Nancy is that rare woman who somehow seems to have gotten better looking over time. '80s era Nancy was hotter than the '70s version, and even now that she's pushing sixty she's still doing pretty damn well for herself.

Good to see that Ann is at least no longer a physical homage to her favorite band.

Don's Rock Concert was the first time I ever saw Devo.

They did Mongoloid and Uncontrollable Urge.

Paul Shaeffer used to do a dead-on impersonation of him.

It wasn't just that Ann and Nancy were gorgeous, they were. But top to bottom, they were a seriously talented group of musicians as well. Put those two elements together, it was gold. Heart made people rethink the whole concept of a "chick" band.

Radio doesn't train me to like one song over another just because it got more airplay. I like the song based on its own merit.
