RACK todays anniversary - it's a kick in the teeth for the school of thought that believes this is the END of history and that capitalism is some fixed law of the universe, like gravity or something, that is just there and can NEVER be altered.

Earlier this week on PBS an episode of American Century showed some classic footage of the evacuation of Ho Chi Minh City that you rarely see these days. Great stuff..

-untold numbers of Hueys being pushed off the side of ships into the ocean by their crews.

-Panic striken ARVN pilots ditching helicopters into the sea.

-Some blithering idiot bawling over the fact that he'd lost contact with a Viet Namese collaborator and feared for his safety

-The excitement on the faces of the NVA tank crews as they smashed through the gates of the imperial palace
