To be honest, I don't know the Stones' catalogue anywhere near as well as you and others here likely do. Your picks could easily be better than mine.

Felix, "The Night Before" is a fantastic song. Trust me, it was hard not to include it. I think the reason I went with "Hide Your Love Away" is the combination of the Lennon vocal and the scene from the movie. "I've Just Seen a Face" is one of my favorite McCartney songs and the title track "Help!" speaks for itself. Depending on mood and circumstance, I could see changing my pick to "The Night Before".

Wags, I appreciate the sentiment. However, my "awareness" has never been lacking. If you would just take an objective step back, you might be able to see what ML and I were trying to say. It wasn't a critique, just an observation. A sort of curious contrast between then and now. Trust me, then will always be light years better. I am wondering why you chose "Hey Bulldog" from "Yellow Submarine". The song is fine, but that has always been my least favorite album and I never cared at all for the cartoon. At any rate, thanks.

Beatles in Arms and all that.

It has been a rather hard days night.

No particular reason.

I hadn't heard it in quite awhile but always liked that tune. Over the years, it has been one of those Beatles songs that has been under the radar, like so many others that seldom if ever get mentioned.

So I thought I'd mention it, more for my benefit than anybody else I guess.

Love that song, my Dad took me to a revue cinema to see Yellow Submarine and that was it, it was all over. Great movie for kids. Favourites tend to change with time, so naturally it extends to the great stuff that got dumped and never released, or buried on a B-side.

Serious faves are 'You Know My Name', Brian Jones on sax

'That Means A Lot' got binned because they thought it sounded too much like Ticket To Ride

'I Meant You' by DC5 kicks 'I Should Have Known Better' in the wazoo for tempo

I've always thought Help was one of the Beatles most under appreciated albums (although an album certified as triple platinum wouldn't generally be considered under appreciated) because it served as a "soundtrack" to a cornball movie....the simplicity of many of the Beatles early recordings has always amazed me....The Night Before is a perfect example.....a primary track with one track over dub and that's it....

interesting that it was McCartney that did the guitar solo on the original recording and not Harrison

Pretty sure I had this album.

By "had" I mean liberated it from my elder brother when he wasn't looking. As happened with several others I'm sure he never figured out what happened to. I had a pretty good collection just of stolen 33's. No wonder we have seldom spoken in the last 20-30 years.
