I'm just curious as to what you see as being the difference between the two valleys that makes one a desert yet the other not.mvscal wrote:For the most part, yes. What does that have to do with the central valley?Diego in Seattle wrote:Would you consider the Imperial Valley desert?mvscal wrote:
The central valley isn't desert either.

Re: (!) Sign at the local car wash (!)
The central valley might not be desert to the extent that the sahara is desert, but, I do believe that it does meet some sort of desert definition seeing as it basically doesn't rain there for better than half the year. One thing is certain. It wouldn't grow much more than tumbleweeds were it to rely on whatever rain buddha, Allah and the spaghetti monster send it's way. It certainly isn't the kind of place that Derron lives on where his coupla few acres can pretty much feed the entire U&L.

Most of the San Joaquin Valley is classified as a semi arid steppe.

Certainly an affront to my title of Trivia Master.
But is a 14er really a 14er if it's already sitting at 5000+ feet before it rises?
Cali's mpountains start not too far above sea level.
And if you're curious about the steepest mountains in the country... those would be in Warshington.
