Tuned in to watch the Rays-Royals game.They should have been playing at the Trop. Looks pretty nasty out there. I remember one Mother's Day back in central NY when Mrs.O and I woke up that morning to 6 inches of fresh snow. Have fun.

I'm sure Mace has some bullshit stories about Iowa blizzards in May but this is my first. In fact, today sets an all time record for lowest high temp ever recorded in May. If that even makes sense. The last record low high set was like 45 in 1944. 41 was the high today, 32 now.

One of the main things that I find just absolutely laughable is the rising of the global tidal level horror stories.. All this shit about melting ice caps making the tidal level go up the most it ever has in recorded history.

So I decided to do some research on Wikipedia. And what I found was the worst case scenario put forth by the climate change quacks is exactly how the tidal level has risen in the past 20K years.

What was it like only 16000 years ago that there was actually a land bridge between Great Britain continental Europe? The tidal level was 600 feet below what it is now?

16000 years ago. Not 60 million. Not even 60,000. Not really that long ago when you think of it.

Do the math. Their worst case scenario is exactly how the tidal level has changed.

But my basic point is that scientist claim of sea levels going up the most in recorded history these past 100 or so years is a bunch of bunk.

We ended up with 8"-9" of snow that will be gone in a few days. This is the first week of high school baseball practice in Iowa and I'm very happy that I'm no longer coaching and have to deal with this stuff. Now it's just fucking up my golf and fishing schedule.

This is the first week of practice? Damn! I knew it started later in your area but when does the season end? Start of next school year?

Here baseball practice started 1/14. The first round of the playoffs is this weekend here and will last for 6 weeks until the state champs are crowned the first weekend in June.

We play summer baseball in Iowa, Lefty, with the first games being played the Monday prior to Memorial Day and the state tournament usually the last week of July.

There's a 40 game limit for the regular season and you typically have to win 4-5 games in the district tournament and 1-2 games in sub-state to qualify for the state tournament (8 teams in each of the 4 classes go to state).

How did you know? I actually did find him today, about three levels below the main crusher at a limestone quarry.

I saw his silhouette through the blinding dust and he beckoned to me, to follow him to the eternal light. It was an incredible epiphany.

Remarkably, I was able to snap a picture. If you look closely you can see him near the upper right hand corner:

Here he is again...leading me out of the darkness. See how he started to glow, once I made the decision to follow him?
