My Hall of Fame PET

Post by BSmack »

Saturday there was an old timers vs regular Joes game in my town. Sorry about not doing radio this week, but this was not to be missed.

We made it for BP. Here's Ozzie Smith after just leaving the cage.

Image

Johnny Bench and Ozzie talking hitting.

Image

The ballpark just before introductions.

Image

Johnny Bench walking/running out of the corn.

Image

A few more HOFers mixed in with some of the luckiest regular guys ever.

Image

Ex-Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm singing the National Anthem. He did a MUCH better job than Steven Tyler did at the AFC Championship Game.

Image

Starting for the home team, Pedro Martinez.

Image

Mr. October himself. He was a little lose with the bat in his hands. Almost hit a few people. Later in the game we serenaded him with a rendition of Happy Birthday. He turned 67. Damn I feel old.

Image

Starting for the visitors, Trevor Hoffman.

Image

Mike Schmidt tossing the ball to Ozzie Smith. They were easily the two biggest cutups of the whole event.

Image

The Big Hurt, Frank Thomas manning first base.

Image

Rickey may have a busted cleat, but Rickey still has the swing that made him one of the most prolific leadoff hitters ever.

Image

More to come when I get to resizing the rest of the pics

Fat fucker.

And he's only 41.

He ought to stay off the diamond before payback plants him in the same predicament.

And it looks like he'll get there before Zim...age wise.

pedro spinning zim into the dirt is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen. gotta rack that old fukker though. we're the pitchers bringing what ever may be left of their A games? I would guess that pedro could still deal reasonably well.

Trevor Hoffman got a little filthy towards the end. Pedro was pretty relaxed. An absolutely epic time was had by all.

Excellent Bri. What's the back story behind this game?

When Pedro looks relaxed is when he is dangerous. 10 years ago when he was in his prime, he looked like he was throwing BP. I have never seen a guy mow people down as effortlessly as Pedro when he was on.

Part II

Pedro doesn't look so big when you see his 2nd baseman. Lucky fucker.

Image

Mike Schmidt posing down after swinging his bat like a golf club.

Image

Back to pregame, Rickey Henderson posing with a "stolen" base.

Image

What is an old timers game without some tomfoolery? That's Mike Schnidt pretending to take a nap as a mound conference between Hoffman and Bench breaks up. In the background is some stiff from THE DISTRICT lucky enough to win a spot on that lineup.

Image

More pics in a bit. In answer to Wolfman's question, this was a contest sponsored by Pepsi. They model it after Field of Dreams and have the guys walk out of corn. This year a guy in Rochester won.
