The Americans

Post by Go Coogs' »

A couple of deep cover KGB agents acting as a married couple with kids in 1981 US.

Pilot episode aired Wednesday night of FX. Very good opening episode, although I have to say there was a shitload of drama in the very first episode. Sometimes you have to do that in the beginning in order get the plot on the right track. The cast is strong and so far very believable during the first episode. The mom/wife is very dedicated and will do anything to complete a mission, whereas the dad/husband loves the idea of the american family and really loves his fellow agent and his kids even though its just part of the job. Sometimes he gets confused as to what is really important, but you respect him for being human.

This is well worth a watch IMO.

Probably the best show running on TV with new episodes right now.

The Borgias has started up again, though. The writing isn't as good as on The Americans but the direction, cinematography, set design, etc. are all pretty awesome.
