Forgive me for belching up an over hyped case, but Nugent whacked this one outta the yard,

How strangled by denial, how dishonest, how cheap do you have to be to focus on a clear-cut case where all the evidence, from the DOJ, from the FBI, from the army of investigative specialists in Florida determined that George Zimmerman acted in self-defense against a life-threatening attack by hoodlum, dope-smoking Trayvon Martin?"

I also love the way certain black "leaders" are so worried about conversations they will have to have with their sons. They claim they are worried about their kids walking around in "white" neighborhoods wearing a hoodie. Hell, they should be telling their kids to hang out there instead of instead of in "black" neighborhoods where they are exponentially more likely to be killed.

It is also nice how Trayvon's parents have now spent more time together than when they were married.

Do you realize how monumentally stupid you sound? Look what happens when you hang out in neighborhoods where you "don't belong." You get profiled by armed vigilantes and in TM's case, it got a 17 year old killed.

Kind of hard to hang out in "white" neighborhoods when you're basically segregated out of them.

I couldn't find anywhere where anybody on this board cited Jane Fonda, Madonna, or even Bette Midler as "hitting one out of the yard" or anything else about anything else, besides of course your brilliant little piece of self-flagellation. What's most fucked up about all this is that the issue has been framed in terms of race. Nugent's argument is a non-sequitur, but it's not hard to understand why he used it. From a purely legal standpoint, there was nothing racial about the Zimmerman case; it was simply a case of self-defense vs. unprovoked or unwarranted murder, with the "Stand Your Ground" law at its center (although that law wasn't used as part of Zimmerman's defense). The whole "if Zimmerman was black & Trayvon was white" bullshit is a red herring, and trying to determine what a jury would've decided had that been the case is irrelevant speculation. There's little question that had that been the case, it would've flown almost completely under the radar, with hardly any media attention or national interest.

The boycott led by Stevie Wonder is allegedly in protest to the SYG law, which is race-neutral. Part of his justification for the boycott included, "we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody." Equality doesn't have anything to do with the SYG law, so it appears he's using the law as a diversion for actually protesting against racial inequality. Abolishing SYG in Florida and elsewhere would do nothing to promote racial equality, so even if the boycott is successful, it wouldn't accomplish what it seems he wants.

If the case had been a black-on-black, white-on-white, black-on-white, or anything other than non-black-on-black, would he still be boycotting Florida? Probably not, since he likely wouldn't have even known about the case, and neither would most of us. And, of course, there wouldn't be any equality issue (at least as far as black "victimization" is concerned) to rail against. Stevie isn't, prima facie, protesting against black people getting killed by whites, Hispanics, or other blacks, so I'm not sure what Ted's point is, unless he's trying to get Stevie to call a spade a spade and admit that what he's actually protesting has nothing to do with the SYG law, and more to do with juries letting non-blacks kill blacks with impunity. Is he suggesting Stevie should boycott Illinois until blacks stop killing other blacks? That, too, has nothing to do with racial inequality, so he would have no interest in raising awareness about it. So Stevie is using a trial and a law that don't really have anything to do with race as a platform for promoting racial equality, and Ted is employing an argument that has nothing to do with what Stevie is allegedly pissed off about.

This whole thing is fucking stupid.
