One thing about quitting over time was that when I finally pulled the plug for good, I was just about a non smoker anyway. So after that first 6 months, I wasn't just a reformed smoker, internally, I was a non-smoker. The smell of smoke repulses me, I can walk in a gas station and not feel the urge to buy "just one pack" the way I did when I tried to quit cold turkey. It has been 4 years this October that I finally quit. All I need now is to take off the last 30lbs that I gained after I quit. I've already taken care of the first 30. Slow and steady folks. You don't get fucked up in a day. It's going to take more than one day to put yourself back together again.
