The game was played in Tuscaloosa... and colorado state was rolling alabama in the 3rd quarter and about to make it a 4 point game late in the 3rd... before the famous (we have to save our best teams with a phantom penalty for the sake of the SEC... penalty) when colorado state converted on a 15 yard play that gave them a 1st down. It turned into a 3rd and 25 for the visitors and entirely changed the momentum of the game.

Good ole' nicolas Saban decided to keep throwing the ball with 1 minute to go in the game... to add style points over a team that is... 1-3 (Colorado State).

Playing LSU, Texas A&M, Mississippi, a resurgent Auburn (by then), and Georgia or South Carolina or Florida that year is gonna be a little tougher than playing any B1G team as Alabama has shown against MSU and Michigan in recent years.
