He didn't have the benefit of a personal triumph story of allegedly-not-raping-a-chick to help bring him more into the spotlight.

Or the triumph story of allegedly not selling autographs. Or the triumph story of just straight up not being a total douchebag.

Would love to see a running back take the award back for once.

It was a great performance.... made possible by that O-line blowing up the Mizzou D-line. That, and the read/option that had Mizzou guessing the whole game.

The fact that Tree Mason was invited to NYC shows just how lacking the candidates were this season.

In the regular season dude averaged less than 110 yards per game on the ground. Add in the SEC champ game and that average goes up to 124 per game. That one extra game also catapulted him up the rushing totals. None of this makes for a Heisman winner.

This isn't meant to take anything away from the kid though. Good season. Just not a Heisman worthy season.

Why does winning and losing matter so much these days?

Andre Williams had an amazing season, but BC wasn't on TV much.

Ka'Deem Carey had his second amazing season in a row. But no one cares about Zona, and his coach is a monsterdouche.

Shane Skov was easily one of the best players in the country. But the day any Heisman voters give a shit about linebackers will be the first.

Going off statistics? Jordan Lynch says hi. While he played in the minor leagues, no player took the beating over the season he did. Dude actually seems to enjoy the beatings he takes. But alas, in his one big shining moment, his team didn't show up (sup Marcus Mariota).

Lots of good players this year, but none just screaming out Heisman, so yet another freshman will win, which I don't like (but since he was probably the best player, I won't whine too much).

I think Jameis was banging the one on the right.

The one on the left I believe is Petrino's crotch rocket.

I have mixed feelings on the Heisman this year. On one hand, I think Lynch is the most deserving. What he has done this year is simply amazing and I don't care who he is playing each week. On the other hand, I'd like to see McCarron win it. He is consistently excellent and has been for his entire career at Alabama. The offense he plays in will not allow him to ever have the kind of numbers that other QBs can generate but that doesn't make him less deserving. Not only that but he is a born winner, is consistently excellent, and appears to be a good citizen off the field. I'm no SEC fan nor am I a Bama fan but I think he's been overlooked for awhile and he'd probably get my vote this year.

Good to see somebody recognize Skov. Murphy's getting most of the post-season love as far as Stanford LBs, probably due to the sack number, but Skov is arguably a more valuable asset.

Amazing player to watch. I don't know how many times I've seen him flash into a play from seemingly nowhere to stop an outside run for short or no gain. For quickness, anticipation and general bad-ass attitude there's no better LB in FBS.

Plus, his strip and recovery off of DAT on the Stanford 2 was a thing of beauty and possibly a game saving play.
