Re: Your five favorite Eagles/Don Henley songs
distinguishing something Henley wrote himself is impossible, because I'm not sure he's ever wrote a song without some help.....probably my favorite would be "The End of the Innocence" but you can hear Bruce Hornsby's influence throughout that song.....so I'm not sure there is such a thing as a Don Henley song.....
I liked the early Eagles stuff a lot.....later, not so much

Whoa there Sam...the way that reads, it sounds like you have "obvious love for the Bee Gees".Sudden Sam wrote:I thought it was my obvious love for the B!G.
Does that mean you have a bright white leisure suit, black shirt and a gold chain buried in your closet?
Swing those paint cans and strut your stuff wild man! Ah ah ah ah, staying alive...*
*Ow, I just had an aneurysm from a bad '70's flashback.

Whichever one is on mute.
The Eagles are fucking awful, and the only marginally tolerable stuff they did was Joe Walsh's.

The Eagles belong to that time in my life when I was young, wanted to get laid and the ladies liked that Greatest Hits album. I never listen to them on my own accord.

Re: Your five favorite Eagles/Don Henley songs
BSmack and Sam, I'm right there with you. I was a fan of James Gang and can still listen to their music. Like Brian, the Eagles were of a particular time and place growing up in the 70's and early 80's. But I haven't played anything by them in years, nor am I inclined to. I don't like or dislike them, I just don't care anymore. The only track I ever listen to these days, is the instrumental "Journey of the Sorcerer". I used it as a soundtrack to a documentary I filmed about Arcosanti, the concept city built in the Arizona desert by Paolo Soleri. It was also used as the theme to the BBC series of "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". It's a nice banjo based cut that has a quiet and mysterious aspect to it.
Other than that, the Eagles are a reflection of the past. Admittedly, Henley had some decent solo songs, but they never come up on my playlist.
