I accept the risk...IPhone help please...
So I have an IPhone issue that the idiots at Apple stores and both Verizon and AT&T haven't been able to fix. If any of you techies can help It would be appreciated.
Over the last 6 weeks or so I have been losing contacts from my IPhone 4. It only seems to happen when I am traveling and my phone shows extended network. The contacts that vanish are the ones that I text or call. Incoming calls don't seem to replicate the disappeance.
Once I text someone from an extended network area the contact is lost and only the number will show. Same for an outbound call. I then have to re-enter the person's name, address, email, etc. It is a huge pain.
One of my employees has experienced the same issue. He also has the iPhone 4. I am on the Verizon Network and he is on AT&T. My wife who has the iPhone 5 and has been in extended network areas with me does not have this problem.
The apple store quacks said it isn't possible for that to happen. Yet it is, but since most apple stores are in larger metro areas I am never in an extended network when it happens. Both Verizon and AT&T have offered to replace the phones for no cost, but since it is happening across providers I don't see how that will solve the issue.
I have looked at a few tech forums, but most of them don't have anything about this and others are above level of tech understanding.
Any of you tech nuts know a solution?

First, back up your contacts.
Then, throw the POS in the river and never buy another inferior Crapple product again.
Problem solved.

What a bunch of dorks. One phone does phone stuff, other phones do phone stuff. Some phones do certain phone stuff slightly better or worse than other phones. Louis CK said it best.

The ones that vanish consider you a pompous blowhard. Your iPhone knows this, and deletes them as a courtesy to those people. That's why they call it a smart phone.Left Seater wrote:Over the last 6 weeks or so I have been losing contacts from my IPhone 4. A little more "IPhone" help - it's iPhone.

Contacts are backed up. Restoring isn't the issue.
I don't give a crap about Apple vs Windows or Android etc. A phone isn't a statement for me, rather it is mostly a business tool. I changed to the IPhone and IPad a few years ago due to the apps available that help me do my job. Initially the apple devices were far better with things to help a pilot fly a plane. Most commercial airlines today are issuing IPads to their pilots. Same for my company.
The IPhone sucks at calls and when you have to type. I still prefer the Blackberry for such tasks, but it didn't have the charts and calculations apps that Apple did.
Goober, you can take your "help" up with Apple. I typed that word in all lowercase letters and the IPad autocorrected it to have the first two letters capitalized.

What is it with tards always blaming auto-correct? If you're so bad at getting over on words, just go into the settings and turn it off. Then you can type stuff precisely the way you want it to display. It's like dumping that cunty ex-girlfriend who would never shut up. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Re: I accept the risk...IPhone help please...
I bought an iPhone a couple weeks ago. My first smart phone. I took it back 2 days later. I only text and call and have no desire to carry the internet or email with me. I love my old Octane and don't know what I'll do when it dies.

I had little interest, until my beloved Sanyo slimline died, and a friend gave me an HTC Incredible.
I don't use internet/data often, but it's sure freaking wonderful on the rare occasions I do. When I was always working out of town, it was a huge asset for finding stuff.

Re: I accept the risk...IPhone help please...
I usually just look at a map before I go, and call it good. But if I'm in an unfamiliar city working, and need some oddball parts/supplies, there's possibly a few hours difference with the smart-phone-for-dummies.

Also, if I'm in an unfamiliar city or even neighborhood, with a couple of buttons I can find the nearest bar. People seem impressed that I have an app for that... b b b but why wouldn't I?

Trev, the whole point of a smartphone is that you can do more than just calling and texting. Seems you would have established your criteria with the sales person before actually buying the thing. Do you also drive off the lot in an SUV when all you really wanted was a car?I only text and call and have no desire to carry the internet or email with me.

I've had the same car for almost 10 years also.

The fry guy at McDonalds doesn't take his work home with him either. Neither does the guy cleaning up the construction site. Lucky them. But no matter the profession or line of work at some level you have to take work home with you. The fry guy when he becomes the store manager and the jizz Mopper calls in sick, the construction gopher when he is the lead carpenter and the wood delivery is delayed by 2 days.
We will keep hoping you reach that level some day.
Further, there isn't anything wrong with working hard and having a comfortable life. No one forces you to click on the PETs I post.

Let me clarify, dick. I do have access to email on my phone. I access through the mobile sites. I don't have push email. I get hundreds of emails per day. I don't exactly want my phone notifying me when each one arrives.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote: If you don't want/have to check your email, you can just like, you know, not check it.
