There are any number of names and bands I could comment on that are great additions on those lists Sam, but one that stands out is Webb Wilder. "Doo Dad" is one of my favorite albums and this guy just doesn't get the airplay he deserves. Hell, I don't know anybody on a personal level that has even heard of him.
Solid lists.

Yep, "Baby Please Don't Go" by Wilder is terrific. In fact, the entire album is so solid it's hard to pick a favorite. I also really like the instrumental "Sputnik" as well as the opener, "Hoodoo Witch". If I get the chance I will see the band live, just hasn't happened yet.

"Tough It Out" is the only WW song I've heard on FM radio. KLOS in LA used to play it fairly regularly. Great CD. Got to see 'em in Hollywood several years ago.

The band got some airplay in Phoenix for a while after the release of "Doodad" It was how I discovered him. Sadly, after a few months, not a peep and no follow ups from later releases. Strange. Every song on that record could and should have been hit singles.

Right on Sam! I haven't heard either of those, so I will be checking them out. And what you said about bands doing radio fodder for generic hits is true. But in the case of Doodad, the songs are just so damn solid and rocking, while being completely assessable to an audience unfamiliar with that kind of sound. The guy is a great, under appreciated gem. And his band rocks.
