Suicide PET

Post by poptart »

Just yard away from me, some dude off'd himself yesterday afternoon,

I heard the sound of it -----> and saw the aftermath.

Image

The location was my apartment building.
He jumped to his death from the back stairway, which is seen on the right side of my building -- 307.
His landing spot was a concrete sidewalk.
I don't know what floor he jumped from.

I'm on the 11th floor of this building -- and am in an apartment on the far right side, which is just out of view in this picture.
If I walk out my door and take 3 or 4 steps to the right, I am at the back stairway.

This happened in the afternoon yesterday.
I heard a loud and heavy *thump* and was like, "What was THAT?"
Sounded as if something big and heavy fell over -- like a truck.
It was unusual, for sure.

I went to the window and saw people rushing over toward the building, but I couldn't see what the deal was.
Then just a minute-or-so later, police were flocking in -- but I still couldn't see what it was.
Then I thought, "Holy crap! I think someone fell (or jumped) off the back stairway."
So I went out... and hesitated for a moment before looking, questioning whether I should look over the edge at the scene below.
I did look.

There was no visible gore, but I did notice that they guy's face was... completely pale.
He was laying on his back and the police were tending to him.

In that instant, the thought did cross my mind to go get my camera and get a shot.
And I know you sickos would want that.
But I said to myself, "Nope. I'm sorry. This dude is dead, or now gripping for his life. I can't stand up here with a camera and take a shot(s) of it."
I walked away and went back into my apartment.

An ambulance soon arrived and they took the guy off.
I went out to the back stairway again and looked -- and took this picture.
The police had chalked-up a a stick figure drawing of where he made his landing.
You can make out the chalk drawing to the right of the tree shadow.

And this is ground zero -- with the chalk stick figure again at the right side of the tree shadow.

I couldn't sleep well last night.
It was just a creepy and awful feeling.

I had my own thoughts about it -- and about what I am doing in this life.

Maybe I'll touch on it in coming days in the Theology Forum.

For now, I hope this PET entertained you, you sick freaks. :)

That is a bit sick. I'm sorry I looked at it.

It was pretty disturbing, Wolfie.

The whole thing is still running through my mind continually.
I can still hear that *THUMP*
I can still see the people flocking over to the scene.
I can see the man's face as I looked down from the 11th floor stairway.

He looked to be young, in his '20s.

Now I'll tell you something else.

When I walked to Church last Sunday, I walked past a young couple near our apartment building -- and they were quarreling.
My wife walked to Church just a bit later than I did.

When we walked home together, she told me she felt bad because when she walked to Church she was in a hurry because she was running late, but she saw a young man crying on a bench -- and she said she wanted to go talk to him, to comfort him, befriend him, and maybe share the Gospel if that was possible.
But she didn't go to him because she didn't want to be late.
So she let it pass.
And she said it was gnawing at her that she didn't go to him.

I told her that I had seen that man just earlier -- and that he and his girl were fighting.
So I told her perhaps they had broken up.

Now I don't know if this is the guy who off'd himself, but it might be.

My wife is a good woman with her heart set right.
I don't deserve her, that's for sure.

I don't think I'll sleep well tonight, either.

Dead indeed.
I learned more about the incident.

It was a middle school... girl.

As I looked down to the ground at the high flyer from floor 11, I saw a man, between say 25-35.

But it was indeed a middle school girl who died instantly here on Thursday.
Some other people who have seen her photo said she looked like a middle-aged woman.

She was overweight, had short hair, was not in her school uniform (she should have been in school at the time of the jump), and was having issues both at school and at home.
She left a suicide note at home.
She said in the note that she was going to jump from this building (she lives in another building) -- because this one had a good spot for the event.
Back stairway, high enough, hard cement landing area.
She jumped from the top -- floor 15.
Took it to the limit.

Her note was found and police came immediately -- and that is why they were on the scene so quickly.
I mean, as soon as I heard the *THUD* and looked outside, the police were there.
They were 1 or 2 minutes too late, though.

Pisser.
