Actually a pretty decent week 1 compared to recent years. Okie State/FSU and Wisky/LSU won't suck, even though they're neutral site games.
Too bad ATM @ South Cackalacky got jammed on the SEC Network. That's a good opening Thurs night game. Instead we get to watch Boise run a train on a perennially overrated SEC team (Ole Miss). Yawn.

What is with the SEC opening with a conference game? They seem to do it ever year.

So they can get a breather from the "meatgrinder" late in the season by playing La-Monroe.Screw_Michigan wrote:What is with the SEC opening with a conference game? They seem to do it ever year.

But is playing directional schools late in Nov better than playing them in the first game of the season? SEC schools need that suspension game to open the season so they can have a full roster for conference games.

No, it's nothing like that, since that game is in August.
Reading is hard.

Because they'll be warmed up for the non-con games. Nobody wants to be the next loser to a D2 school.Left Seater wrote:But is playing directional schools late in Nov better than playing them in the first game of the season? Ask the Wolverines...lol!

Re: 2014 NCAA Football TV Schedule
I think several SEC schools a year open with games that are high profile (LSU/WIS) or conference (AU/ARK). Creates a case for strength of schedule for a team like LSU while with teams like Auburn, as said before, this will free up room for a mid season game against a lesser foe. This will allow them to get some players a little needed rest before some serious opponents. Clever manipulating of the schedule. Plus, no one wants to be the story of week one with the topic of "Should major conferences open up with mid majors" which is a regurgitated story every year, or worse, a major that is upset by mid major.
