Zona/UTSA in game
All I can say is... at least it's football. It'll be over in an hour or so when I go to work.
Glad I got my picks in before kickoff (by about 5-10 minutes), since this one seemed like a gimme (as did the sportsbook/tipster guys they had on the radio, although I hate taking road favorites).
UTSA has done great in their short time in FBS, but please -- PAC12 athletes vs CUSA athletes rarely works out for CUSA.
Zona will have 22 freshman in by the second half.

Plus, it's Coker's team -- they're probably so high on crack they won't remember which endzone is theirs.

That line was so goofy I stayed away from it.
BEWARE THE THURSDAY NIGHT HOME DOG!
Now watch Zona win by 30.

I believe Thursday night home dogs cover almost 90% of the time (or some such shit).
I doubt UTSA will keep it within 30 of the Arizona Wile E Coyotes. They'll bust out the double-secret Acme play and score 14 in one drive. No anvils falling on their head tonight.

Ahh yes, there's that Dick Rod defense I remember so fondly. Like a hot knife through butta.

Huh?
It was a Roadrunner cartoon reference.
Although I'm sure Acme Inc. would sell you a paper shredder, as well.

The zona offense has been ok, and the defense just meh.
A 4 point halftime lead isn't impressive at all. I don't know if this is because UTSA is playing over their head, Zona doesn't care, or Zona sucks.
They should still win by 20 plus, but if this is a sign of the PAC 12, it isn't a good sign.

Talk about an escape.
If UTSA was awake on the first snap from scrimmage they likely win that game.

You have some points about some of those games but I give credit to Arizona for winning a close one against UTSA though. I'm originally from that area of the world and have family there. I tuned in for the game. Not knowing much about the Roadrunners other than they were a start up program a few years ago I went over their roster . . .Sudden Sam wrote:UCLA looked like shit against Virginia.

Soooooo...this great Pac12 I keep hearing about. Oregon, Stanford and USC are good, right?
Oh, and Kal. Kal may be the best team?
BWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, yeah...the season's a week old. I'm just fuckin' with y'all.
Mod damn, Coker is a freaking genius. He literally cherry picks the best three or four kids not offered by the Big 12/SEC at Judson, Alamo Heights, Taft, Holmes, and Roosevelt, mixes them with top JUCO kids and Big 12/SEC transfers.
UTSA has a lot of kids names that were four and five stars who ended up at JUCOs mixed with the pick of the litter in central Texas that aren't playing BCS conference ball. It's basically what every non Big 12/SEC program in Texas wants to be for its region of the state. Coker is doing it better than most as well, good on him for it as well.

All of those factors against a Dick Rod defense is a recipe for trouble.SunCoastSooner wrote:You have some points about some of those games but I give credit to Arizona for winning a close one against UTSA though. Basically we found out this is a typical Dick Rod team . . .

Re: Zona/UTSA in game
I think his defenses were actually worse in the Big Ten, and that was going against all those "slow, plodding midwestern white boys." And he also had Michigan's usual collection of 4 and 5-star recruits and still couldn't construct a competent defense.SunCoastSooner wrote:All of those factors against a Dick Rod defense is a recipe for trouble.

Yet his Zona team actually managed to hold the Ducks to 16 points last year. Ponderous.
Hey, I'll give Arizona credit for scheduling that game. It would seem they had zero motivation for doing so, but went through with it anyway. But if the Pac 12ers want to thump their chests over their "crazy depth" in the West Coast Meatgrinder, they need to put up some better showings than what we've seen so far.

You realize Wazzu is now, like they have been for a decade, the bottom feeders of the PAC? They're glad CU came along to make them look not so bad.
Both those teams are many, many good players away from being competitive.
Pretty sure every conference has those.
