My Top 10 worst "Power 5" teams

Post by MgoBlue-LightSpecial »

I call this list the POWER BOTTOMS.

#1 being the worst.

1 Wake Forest - This is the worst team I've seen from any P5 conference. No talent anywhere. They were underdogs at home to Army ferchristsakes. Yes, they won the game, but barely.

2 Kansas - Barely scraped past a horrible Central Michigan team. No surprise here, it's Kansas.

3 Vanderbilt - Don't be fooled by the South Carolina game, two of their TDs were off kick returns. Can't count on those very often. This team is horrific.

4 Northwestern - Injuries and transfers haven't helped, but still, this team is really, really bad.

5 Purdue - Only slightly better than N'western. Their game should be the mother of all cripple fights.

6 Colorado - The Buffs seem to be improving a little, but they're still Pac 12 doormats until proven otherwise.

7 Michigan - Still have yet to score an offensive touchdown against a P5 team. Or even get in the red zone . Defense is pretty good though.

8 Washington St - Yeah, they had Oregon on the ropes but they're still 1-3 with their only win against Portland St. Let a B1G bottom feeder beat them in their house (not quite their house, but close enough).

9 Cal - Probably has the talent to avoid this list, but they're still Caling it at an alarming rate. The Northwestern win on the road looked decent at the time, not so much anymore.

10 Iowa St - Cyclones actually have a pulse. Almost beat KSU and did beat Iowa. Not that either of those things are all that impressive, but good enough to be called the "best of the worst." I don't hold their loss to North Dakota St against them too much. The Bison would beat half the teams from the P5.

I think Iowa State would beat Kentucky . . . maybe Florida.

Look at Florida's schedule. If I gave you an over under of 5.5 what would you take? I have to admit, I'd take the under and the SEC LEast is bad. Think about that.

Indiana is competitive. They started turning that corner a little bit last year. Kevin Wilson has built a potent offense that puts up big numbers. If he can just field a competent defense, IU could be pretty solid.

I could sub out ISU for a few teams and feel OK about it. Illinois, Kentucky, maybe North Carolina.

UF is bad, but I'm not sure they're bottom 10 bad just yet. They did hang with Bama for a good bit of that game.

If you are going to consider teams to sub out ISU, wouldn't Iowa make the list?

Other than ISU can't really argue with any of them or your logic.

My best friend is a Sooner who works with almost all Gators as an Engineer out here, watched that entire game very closely with them all. Bama was beating themselves.

Iowa is 3-1 with a win @ Pitt. ISU is 1-2 but a win @ Iowa. Let's call it even.

No. Iowa is definitely a better team than ISU. ISU won a bitter rivalry game against a better team. Happens all the time. ISU might not win another game this season, but they'd probably be happy with the win over Iowa.
