NorCal vs. SlowCal... High School State Championships

Post by matteric »

NorCal goes 4-1 against SlowCal, only Clayton Valley losing in Division II.

De La Salle gets sixth State championship.

Simply put, the best high school football in the country... is played in the San Francisco Bay Area ( Northern California)

De La Salle beats Centennial in record-setting state bowl game

No doubt De La Salle is a great HS football program. Congrats to them.

One thing though, they need to be referenced as a private school. Since they can recruit they should be better than the public schools.

That's funny.

I was recruited by Cardinal Newman (still have the jersey they gave me when I went up to Santa Rosa as a 14 year old)... back in the day.

At that time... they had the California state record for wins in a row... 47

I still went to Terra Linda (my home town school)... and won 2 straight North Coast Championships and ended Cardinal Newman's state record of wins in a row.

We were ranked the # 2 team in the state of California... before they had state championships.

If they had "State Championships" back in the early 80's ???

We would have smoked... the LA schools !!!

We had 11... D1 players on the team... and two NFL players.

Oh yeah, we didn't recruit at Terra Linda... we were just better than Cardinal Newman.

schmick wrote:The South has consistently handed the north their ass in these bowls. The South fucked themselves this year when they put all of the power programs in to the same CIF Southern Section Division (Pac-5) thus only allowing one of them to qualify for the state bowls. The north recognized that was a problem the last few years and thats why Folsom and De La Salle both made the bowls this year instead of playing each other to qualify for the bowls. Another thing that hurt the South was the Southern Section only being allowed to send one Open or D1 team, Oceanside (San Diego section) played Edison (Fresno section) to see who would be the D1 representative when Mission Viejo would have wiped the floor with either of those teams, hell Vista Murrieta, who Mission beat in the Souther Section finals, would have wiped out Edison or Oceanside.
The Pac 5 being turned in to the toughest division in High School football in the nation is really what hurt the South in the bowls this year though. There are programs in those Pac 5 conferences that have won Cal Bowls in 4 different divisions but putting the best programs in to the same Southern Section Division made for an exciting Southern Section playoffs but hurt the south in the bowl.

In the north schools in the same league will go in to different playoff divisions which allows them to spread out their power programs. Sin10 was spent by the time they got through the Pac 5 as they beat Serra (3 time Cal Bowl Champion in D2) Mater Dei (regional private power every year), Bishop Amat (regional private school power every year) and St John Bosco (defending Open Bowl and National Champion).
the south should have sent Bosco in open, Sin 10 in D1, Serra in D2, Servite in D3 and Oaks Christian in D4 but all of those schools were in the Pac 5 playoffs

What are you babbling about ???

You got rolled... by Northern California... once again.

Stoolio you're still such a stupid fuck it's not even funny anymore
I respect the hell out of DLS but if you put them in the Pac-5 division down here they wouldn't go 14-0 every year. The gauntlet of those schools in the playoffs is much more than ANY team from up north can handle. I gotta go with schmick on this one. I see a lot of these teams on a weekly basis and the competition just to win a league championship is tougher than anything no cal has to offer. Now throw in the playoffs where a team has to go through serra, crespi, LB poly, Bosco, Mater Dei, Centennial etc.....DLS doesn't play that type of competition. Kudos to them for winning again, but no chance they have that type of success down here.
