Dead kids, beaten wives ordering pizza, and toenail fungus. Wow, what a bunch of depressing commercials. At least the Seahawks are winning.

I liked the Brady Bunch one with Danny Trejo and Steve Buscemi. The half-time show sucked, but got worse when it "darkened" up. I turned the volume down and left the room until the 2nd half.

Pretty sure the beaten wife on the phone ordering pizza was a real call.

But agree the commercials sucked. I did like the Bud commercial making fun of craft beers, pumpkin almond spice, Bwahhahahahah.

No, it was a lame ad. Budweiser should not have to resort to reverse snobbery. Their beer already sells well amongst their target demo. Have some confidence in your product.

Anybody here old enough to remember when mega brewery beer commercials were funny?

I think the last one was during Reagans first term. Absolutely pathetic. No worries though. Wags and the rest of the taste budless hordes will remain as faithful to their idols as they are to their preferred automakers.

I agree, Budweiser is supposed to be doing its best to be ATTRACTING that young demographic (which it has been hemorrhaging) and instead it mocks it. I don't get it. Bud is my mainstay as it is certainly cheaper than more expensive "craft" beers, but I also enjoy the latter, though much less frequently.

When I'm having more than one, I'm having a Bud.

I heard somebody say that the message they're essentially sending is that you should never think about beer, you should just shut up and consume it. It's offensive to the consumer but the sheeple who dutifully tip back their Buds either don't care or are too stupid to realize this.

It's funny too because Budweiser is in the business of buying craft breweries. Just recently they purchased a brewery out of Seattle that makes a...wait for it...pumpkin peach ale.

Personally, I never understood why anybody feels the need to choose between micro and macro beer. There's a time and place for both beverages. If I'm at a brewpub I'm probably going to want to sample one of their house ales. If I'm tailgating or at a ball game, or doing anything where multiple beers will be involved, I'm going to stick with Piss Lite.

There are plenty of times where a beer or especially multiple aren't involved. Give me good distilled spirits every time over the best beer.

To each their own, but beer is just meh in the 'seater household.

There are plenty of decent craft lager, pilsener, wheat and seasonal brews that fill the bill for session drinking.

True Goobs. But I was trying to think of things that clock in near the 4.2 ABV of Rice Light. But, upon further review I did find some that are close. My own personal experience has been that I feel better after drinking good beer than after drinking piss beer regardless of volume consumed.

Local brewer came out with a session ale this past fall. 4.7% alcohol. Great beer.

Founder's makes a similar beer they called All Day IPA, though it's not truly an IPA.

Premium price for the same ABV = not a good return on your investment for session drinking, especially when you won't care what's in your hand after you've tipped back a few. Also, depending on where you are and what you're doing, there are not always "plenty" of these options available.

As a dude who came of age in the epicenter of the craft revolution, don't even step to me when it comes to beer snobbery. Enjoyed those days.

And I've been at it long enough (longer than any of you, trust me), that...

No, slightly higher price for far better taste. If you're not in college you shouldn't be quibbling over a few extra Dinero for a better time.

I drank PBR before it was became hipster kool-aid and a lot of long neck OMs. One year my friends and I found a place that sold Schmitts for 6 bucks a case and we drank enough of that we turned the empty long neck cases into dorm room furniture.

I continued in that vein for longer that I would like to admit. But in my defense, those were the days when "good" beer was Labbats and Guinness. Times have changed.

I'm with Mgo on this one. There is no way in hell I'm forking over $16-$20 for 12 beers, unless I'm drinking conservatively and plan on doing an all day thing that is in the 8-10 hour range. I make a good living, but I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on quality brew when consumption is the main goal. Like Mgo said, after you've pounded your first sixer in less than two hours, there really is no point in worrying about quality if you continue at that pace for the next few hours. Beer tastes all the same after a certain point.

If consumption is the goal, skip beer completely and go straight to Everclear or Bacardi 151. But before you do either give someone else your keys.

And most bars sell shit beers for 5 bucks a pop these days. Wow. You saved a whole 5.00?

Man, sucks to be you guys.

Around here, at most bars, a "pint" (they often use the 14oz wannabe pints these days) of craft beer runs about $3.50-$3.75... less during happy hour (found one where craft beer was 2 bucks recently).
