How mad are you with the strike/lockout?
When (if) the NHL comes back, will you still be pissed off? Will you protest and refuse to go to any games? If fans had any balls whatsoever the NHL would play in empty barns for at least a month.
And here I thought it was a lockout!!
No, I'm not mad about the "strike". We've known about this for 6 years or so. We all knew this was coming. Why is everyone suddenly surprised?
The only thing I'm surprised about is how stupid the players and their position appears in this whole thing.
But when the NHL fires back up again, next week, next year, or two years from now, I'll be there in section 222 watching the Flames raise their new banner.
I'll leave the bitter fans and empty barns to the southern, non-traditional market teams. It's an inevitability.

Comparing the last labor dispute to this one, I'm handling it a little better. Certainly, I'm not happy that the league is out of commission but I'm not so mad that I can't function in everyday life. The sport of hockey will exist with or without the NHL...the only thing is, this is the premiere league in the world and you can't get the same quality from lesser leagues.
I'm going to watch Michigan-Michigan State at the Joe in February...that's only my second hockey game I've gone to since the end of the last NHL season. I've just not missed the sport as much as I thought. The Kalamazoo Wings (UHL) are on a huge winning streak right now but I'm not compelled enough to drive 10 minutes and watch them play.
There's playoff football and college hoops to watch now and baseball is quickly approaching. I'll miss the playoffs for sure...when they call off the season, I'll be a little steamed at the fact we won't be able to enjoy the best playoffs in all of sports. How weird will it be to not see someone skating the Stanley Cup in the spring?
Hockey gets no national attention as it...I think it's funny that ESPN will occasionally throw us hockey fans a bone with mentioning the lockout during SportsCenter or one of the panel shows. If you took a poll around the country, not many people care that there is no NHL.
I'd be happy if they came back tomorrow but I don't think I can get any more irritated with the lockout lasting longer than it has. Once the All-Star Game was called off, I pretty much thought the season wasn't that far from being callled off too. I'm holding out hope for things to get going again in September.

There are not enough adjectives to describe how pissed I am right now. Then again, maybe there are but maybe it would be inappropriate to list them all in here.
I'm looking foward for some NHL hockey back at the Bell Centre and to cheer the team I sherish so much. However, I sincerely hope this lockout will provide solid grounds to improve the game. I mean this better be fixed for good otherwise all this will just be a fucking waste.

NHL Gamecenter Live saved my life!!! Go Habs Go!
If the union caves in and there is a hard salary cap, the NHL and the owners better be smart enough to lower ticket prices BIG TIME. With a $35 million cap there is no way they can charge $100 for a ticket and expect people to show up.
If the either side REALLY wanted to win the fans support they would mention this.

Hapday wrote:IMO it's a strike. The players are welcome to come and play under a cap, but they won't. Refusing to play = strike.Mainiac wrote:You still need to strike the word "strike" and replace it with "lockout".
The players would probably play under the old system, that's why the owners had to lock them out. The owners want their system in place and until it happens, the players won't play. They want to win back the money war but they've been giving cash away by overpaying on a lot of free agents. If the owners were thriftier to begin with, I don't think we're in this mess. You give the players an inch and they'll take a mile.
BTW...changed it to strike/lockout, I'll stop now.

it'll be a long time before I can go back to a game, much less watch one, when/if they return. Since America is such a forgiving nation, it wouldn't surprise me to see arenas sold out once again about two years after they all return and everything settles down. It's what happened with baseball and I'm sure it'll be the same thing with hockey.
those union assholes and millionaires fighting with billionaires have left a huge void at this time of year. I do miss throwing on my jersey and heading to a sports bar to watch games with friends.
the CHL is really taking off here in Denver. We have a team in Loveland, about 60 miles north, and they have sold out every home game to the end of the season. And because the Eagles are just kicking ass right now and continue to stay atop their division and, one of the best records in the league, it looks like playoffs are in the future.
At least with the CHL, the tickets are cheap and you see thousandaires playing the game because they love it.

Hell, we're so pissed we moved to Idaho to see the ECHL 2003-2004 champions!
Well, not really, but it is a nice bonus.
BTW, I called the Kings yesterday and demanded our season seat deposit back and cancelled our season tickets. The guy was like WHY??? And said we could sell those seats in a heartbeat. I told him flat out that so many people are pissed off right now that I doubt the fans will be back as quick as they think they will.
