I know we've been led to believe that when airliners crash into a solid wall or into the ground they just disappear completely and no debris or corpses are to be found. AS at the pentagon and in Pennsylvania on 9/11. But today in the Swiss alps it seems some wild conspiracy is afoot because the Germanwings Airbus 320 that slammed into a mountain is all over the place...huge chunks of debris, and bodies littering the ground. Aliens? Aliens working with Mossad?
All we know is that something's not right. There should be nothing, right?

Depends on its speed. If a plane crashes from 30k+ feet then the wreckage will be in small pieces. If a plane is acending and crashes on the side of a mountain pieces of wreckage will be larger.

It was only a few weeks ago a coworker mentioned he avoids Air Buses because it's more difficult for pilots to take control of the aircraft from the auto pilot if something is amiss. On a Boeing aircraft a pilot can throw a single switch and take control, not so for the Air Bus.

Both manufacturers have a single button that allows the pilots to take control. This wasn't always the case on the airbus. Prolly 15 years or so ago there was an airbus that did a low speed fly by at an air show with gear and flaps deployed. The computer thought the pilot wanted to land and wouldn't allow him to increase the throttles or retract the gear. The plane crashed in trees beyond the end of the runway with loss of life and complete loss of the hull. From that day forward airbus started adding override capability.


I tend to avoid airbus jets myself, not for this issue but because many are underpowered and slow. Not something I want if the crap hits the fan. They are also significantly louder than their Seattle counterparts.

So, why are there so many airbuses out there? Are they cheaper to buy/maintain? Can't say I ever noticed a noise issue with them, but, then again, I don't make it a point to compare A320/737 noisiness. The only thing I ever flew that bothered me was an older jet, forget which one it was, 727 maybe? Has the engines mounted to the fuselage. All them colored folks sitting in back had it tough. Maybe why they talk so loud.

Looks like there was an 8 minute long controlled descent with no comms from the plane. Sounds to me like somebody decided to just fly it into the ground.

Do we have any info on the pilots yet?

Clearly this (mysterious) tragedy indicates further just how bullshit is the claim that a 757 hit the pentagon, or that flight 77 disappeared into the hole in Pennsylvania. It will be interesting to see what the black box reveals in this case as far as the eight minute silence preceding the crash.

Wow! It looks like a pilot suicide.

Evidence collected from the cockpit voice recorder of the crashed German airliner indicates one pilot left the cockpit before the plane began its descent and was unable to get back in, The New York Times reported.

The report from Paris cited a senior military official involved with the investigation who described audio recovered from the black box recorder.

"The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,'' the investigator told the newspaper. "And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. ... You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.''

Love to accommodate, but my microinverters are only set up for 115V AC. 220V needs a special cable. The sub panel is only about 15 feet from the pool though, so we could probably set up something pretty effective where he just needs to sit on the top step.

Just read on another site that while the US requires regular psych evals for pilots, euros only require a physical.

Perhaps AP could get another pilot job over there...
