Remember the $3 billion bid for the NHL?

Post by Captain Haddock »

I think the investment group was called Lail or Vail. Anyway, remember when they offered 3 billion for the NHL during the final days of the deadline? Then they offered 4 billion the next day

They're back...and they're now offering $5 billion. That's a lot of real money. The NHL would have to take that into consideration. It appears that these guys aren't going away.

I'll post a link when I see an article about it. I just saw the report on The Score television

Link from TSN

Apparently someone sees the fact that there's more money to be made in the NHL, at least enough to invest over $4 billion...

Thanks for the link, Otis.

Yes, the Bain group. I'm pretty sure the score is going with 5.

The fact is these seem like legitimate bids. For a league on the verge of bottoming out..

Maybe it's an NHL canard.

[Conspiracy theory] With news that the talks between the owners and players have been progressing over the past week with a deal starting to look more likely than not...

Didn't this group also come out with their last offer right around the same time that there appeared to be a deal getting done between the NHL and the NHLPA?

Co-incidence? I think not. [/Conspiracy theory]

Go Idiots.

Few NHL's invest their own cash in the NHL because they know that a fool and his money are soon parted.
Am I wrong...God, I hope so.
