And I'll take a salmon over any of the other shit, and just passed up a couple of chances to go hit the Big Ocean for halibut. Maybe I'll hit up the end of tuna season when I get back from the major road trip I just agreed to. But ocean fishing sucks.

My idea of fun fishing is to hit a small trout stream, not during black fly season of course, and catch my limit of native brook trout around 10". Take them home and fry them up for dinner. Remember doing that once back in CNY with my brother. When we came to our car there was a NY State DEC cop waiting for us. He had us empty our creels. Fortunately we each had 10 which was the limit back then. Each one over 10 carried a hefty fine. I was sweating it.

For me the least important aspect of fishing is catching fish. It's more about the outdoors, cracking a beer or 10, and enjoying some good conversation.

Having a good conversation with a fish has to be better than dealing with LTard and The Stool here.

I'm Ok with Florida vacations, I get it. Actually I don't, but seriously? Florida is a dick joke. Why go to Florida when the Great Lakes are better for fishing and scenery. You know what? Never discover that. Go fish next to a Publix and a bowling alley in Florida and call it a vacation. Leave Sleeping Bear Dunes alone.

Around here (I guess that would be Oregon), a BUII IS worse than a DUII. Not enforced quite as hardcore... well, kind of -- fishermen get massive leeway, drunken waterski/wakeboard/drag boat douchebag gets persecuted. I talked to a rivercop on the Clackamas River (where my pic is from, not a huge stream, lots of jet sleds in winter/spring, a huge armada of rafterdouches (up to 10,000 a day on hot summer weekends), as he was writing someone a ticket for not having a lifejacket (don't have to wear it if you're over 16, still have to have one accessible). Young rivercop said "I wish it was always winter -- we never stop anyone, because the fishermen are always legal."

smackaholic wrote:[

Fed 4 adults and a child very well that evening (FRESH MOTHERFUCKING SALMON, you heathens). Fed 2 of us the next night (not so FRESH MOTHERFUCKING SALMON, but still more fresh than any you've ever eaten -- store-bought sits dead in a net that long... hate to be the one to break it to you). Maybe 7 pounds of meat (fish weighed 10 pounds after bleeding, before gutting... oh, that's right, the commercial folks don't bleed them either... YUKKKKK).

And BTW -- notice that green and Lightning Yellow hat, and same color shirt under the fleece... is it September yet?).
Insane Genis wrote:Why go to Florida when the Great Lakes are better for fishing and scenery.

Laughing hard over here. But if that's your deal, you should thank the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for those fish you have (that's who stocked the salmonids in the Great Lakes).

Uhm, here on the Left Coast, where the Vietnam refugees landed, "Boater" is a slur, and is not the preferred nomenclature, Dude.

And, uhm... we have fresh water, too. Lots and lots and lots. Bank fishing opportunity everywhere. And you'll notice in my pic, I'm standing in a boat (albeit in 4" of water, but we drifted a big chunk of river). Laughing at that one, too.

Although Southern fishing looks fun, I feel even more spoiled than I already did.

BTW -- Scott's OL looks deece for a filthy old used up whore.

Have you actually ever fished the Gulf, Atlantic or the mix that is the Keys? And at least tasted up the catch...grouper, snapper, trout, cobia, reds, snook, etc..

Not to mention the game fish...I realize your neck of the woods trumps everything Dins, but wiggah please, to coin your phrase...

Nope. Maybe someday, but I have little desire.

Rarely.

And you know why?

Because it's not sold in seafood markets here, as a general rule. Our local fish? Pretty sure that you can buy it (seasonally) in any fish market in the country.

Once again, the Rule applies... Brain, and THEN keyboard. The Rule helps to avoid unfortunate displays, such as the one you just put on.

Well, if you ever visit, I'd recommend finding the Asian guys with the "RCB" graphics on their car, and asking them if they're "boaters."

Make sure to video it.

Just can't seem to get into the hot and humid thing.

Florida may have whiter sand on their beaches, but at least you can take a shower and actually dry off in SoCal.

The left coast is beautiful, but anything north of say, Santa Barbara is perpetually about 3 degrees from freezing solid. The trouble with florida is that for a fair portion of the summer, the water is too fukking warm to be the slightest bit refreshing, especially the gulf side. I guess the atlantic side, once you get up around Daytona is OK, but, still could stand to be a bit cooler. We visited my mom in ft meyers a few years back, in june. The gulf had to be at least 95 degrees. Horrible.

You are cordially invited to never come back. If you do come back, we"ll make sure to pull an iceberg next to shore to make you more comfortable. Have fun with no water and earthquakes out there in Socal. Daytona sucks and quit 'guessing'. Either you have been there or you haven't. The surf temp is about 2 degrees different from Jacksonville to Miami. As far as 95 degree surf, try going out more than 2 feet from the beach break, and you"ll see that water more than 1 foot deep is juuuuuust a bit cooler. You tourists need to get away from the heavily populated areas and spend a week or so in Sebastian, or other beaches off the beaten path. Try St. George Island during the summer.
