Ginger who?

Oh, that guy.

He couldn't carry Bonzo's bottle of Jack Daniels, much less When The Levee Breaks.

Well, he's right.

A little hypercritical about metal, but still...

Not a surprising comment really, & probably should be expected from Baker & Bruce who were most popular w/ Cream. Why is it the way it is? Cream didn't stay together very long, while Led Zeppelin did, and ended up much more popular. I saw Page & Plant in the early 90's, and remember thinking they sounded just like off the album, now I wonder how much of that was computer generated. If I had the choice to see Zeppelin, or Bonamassa, or Tedeschi Trucks now, I'd choose Bonamassa or TT, who are better musicians and at their peak. Not sure what you'd really get with Zeppelin, but tape loops or computer generated music looms large with them IMO. Most of their albums including their live release, How the West was Won were over dubbed.

I've listened to enough Leppelin bootlegs to know they were a great live band even before Page got his hands on the tapes.

Regardless of what you saw or heard, it damn sure wasn't Led Zeppelin.

Their music sounded just like the albums, like they never broke up, or missed a beat....or Bonham. Probably tape loops, I'm sure Plant can't sing like he used to, even back then. Led Zeppelin II was my favorite album from them.

I have many HOURS of evidence to the contrary.

Gotta concur here, I don't know where Marty is coming from. I'm not a big Zep fan at all, but it doesn't take much listening to realize how great they were. Did Page and company steal some riffs? You betcha. Lots of bands borrow from others, but they did what did very very well.

Just watch the Song Remains the Same for proof.

In the studio.

Their live recordings are generally a hot mess, with the exception of a few pre-1972 performances.

With few exceptions, you just like being a wet blanket contrarian Canuck.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Greases the roller bearings, it does.

Not this time.
I stand behind what I say. There's a ton of bands of Zeppelin's era (and genre) that put on tighter shows.

Listen to Zappa. Now that's a tight live show that doesn't sacrifice "grooveability ".

I like "improv", but improv doesn't cover "sloppy".

You want good Zeppelin? Here:

And I'll agree with you on Royal Albert Hall '70

I've seen, heard and posted about that Danish gig before.

But far from calling it glass dick, it's always nice to see it again.

You can run from Zep but you can't hide, comrade.

Here's an old Rolling Stone article about Ginger that's still entertaining.

Just off the top of my head, and my collection, here are some more shows I find to be excellent.

1973-01-22 - Southampton, UK
1973-05-14 - New Orleans, LA
1973-05-18 - Dallas, TX
1979-07-23 - Copehnagen
1977-06-21 - Los Angeles, CA
1977-04-27 - Cleveland, OH
1975-05-25 - London, England

That's just a start, there's many more.
