why isn't the Post Office doing their part to help?

If global warming is as bad as Obama and other claim, why don't they start making changes themselves before forcing us to make changes? More along the lines of see what we have done, now it is your turn, vs their usual do what I say, not what I do.

Case in point the USPS. We as a population are sending far fewer first class pieces of mail than we used to. As such there is excess capacity in the USPS system especially in the sorting and transportation categories. Given this the USPS decided it would be better to do fewer local sorts and move more mail to large "super" facilities. Back in the day your local post office prolly had multiple drop boxes. One for local mail, one for the city at large and one for outside the city. Now in most cases there is just one drop box. In the city where my mom and in-laws live all mail is now trucked to Dallas to be sorted. So a piece of mail that is just going across town and previously was delivered the next day now makes a 900 mile round trip and is delivered at best in 4 days.

Further, two neighborhoods here in San Antonio were notified that the post office would no longer be delivering their mail via a walking carrier. The homes in these neighborhoods have slots in them where the mail falls inside the homes. The residents are refusing to add individual mail boxes at this point so who knows how that plays out.

But if global warming is so bad, the USPS should be doing its part. All mail in an urban setting should be delivered by foot. Second, all mail local mail should stay local.

Where is the outrage among you global warming types? Shouldn't YOUR government be at the forefront of setting an example?

If they believe it is such a threat why are they not doing things to reduce that threat. These are completely within their control, yet they tell others we need to take action while they don't.
